Changes to the beginner course Абсолютный новичок, made by Claude on 22 October 2026 for Natbrown to check. Every change can be undone from the page history ("undo"). All edits: Special:Contributions/ClaudeHelper.
New order of steps 1–3
The idea: letters → first words with Это… → greetings → numbers and colours; then Кто это?, food and please/thank you; then animals, home and family.
Step 1 – Азбука в картинках (new), Как дела? (moved from step 2), Русские буквы, Цвета 1, Числа 1-10, Школа 1: Что это?
Step 2 – Еда 1, Еда 2, Какой это цвет?, Люди 1: Кто это?, Пожалуйста! - Спасибо! (moved from step 3), Школа 2: Что это?
Step 3 – Африканские животные 1 (moved from step 1), Весёлая семья, Дом, Домашнее хозяйство 1, Животные 1, Какой это континент?, Числа 1-20, Это мой кот
Moved later: Алфавит "Машины" → step 4 (car brands are foreign words – better as a review once the letters are known). Голова Майи → step 5 (равно голове is the dative case).
Note: inside one step the site sorts lessons by their Russian name (alphabetically), not by the order above. Changing that needs a small change to Template:Ru0 – not done.
Teaching material added
- Школа 1: Что это? – grammar box (Это, no is/a/the, questions, да/нет/не) + 4 more quiz questions.
- Числа 1-10 – "Remember" box + quiz (6 questions, one fill-in).
- Числа 1-20 – how to make 11–20 (на + дцать, stress) + quiz.
- Пожалуйста! - Спасибо! – box (two meanings of пожалуйста, answers to спасибо) + quiz (5 questions).
- Как дела? – box (scale отлично → ужасно, polite Как ваши дела?) + new quiz with Noto Emoji faces using the 5 words of the lesson. The old quiz used harder words that are not in the lesson (так себе, превосходно, хуже не придумаешь…) and emoticon pictures with unknown source – it was replaced. It can be brought back from the page history, maybe for a later step.
- Цвета 1 – box (Какой это цвет?, endings -ый/-ий/-ой, синий/голубой). (I first changed "Teacher: Richard Brown" in the English text – that was a mistake: the English side is the English lesson taught by Richard. Undone on 23 Oct.)
Cleaned
- Алфавит "Машины" – removed text copied from somewhere else with Moscow phone numbers, a person's name and a Facebook link.
Questions for Natalia
- Ералаш – keep: permission from ООО «Ералаш» (Boris Grachevsky), 24 April 2012 (Natbrown's decision, 22 Oct 2026). Other small films may also have permission – Natalia will check her emails.
- Просто так (1976) (step 4) – cartoon; no permission known yet. Keep, replace or remove?
- Should I go on with steps 4–6 the same way?
23 October 2026: stress marks
- Added stress marks (´) and the red box Template:Tl to all 20 lessons of steps 1–3 and to Азбука в картинках. Typed-answer gaps in quizzes have no stress marks.
- Fixed typos: розовый written with Latin letters (Colours 1 and 2), филетовый (Colours 2), макаронны (Food 2), Цветa with a Latin a in the title of Colours 1.
- Stress and Russian vowels: озеро́ → о́зеро (in Template:Russian vowel reduction table, so all languages), and а, о, д, э → а, о, е, э.
23 October 2026: new order of steps 4–20
Every step now has one topic. Lessons were moved by changing the step number in Template:Tl; every move can be undone from the page history.

Also brought in from hidden numbers: Русские буквы 2 (FAST 1-02) and Какая это буква? → step 2; Русские буквы 3 (FAST 1-03) and Майя учит русский алфавит → step 3.
Not brought in: the RP series (most pages are empty: "Добавьте русский текст!", and it uses another course template), Uki – Stand, Sit (same template).
Still open: Просто так (1976) (film, no permission known) is in step 20 until Natalia decides.
Fixes made on the way:
- Household 2 is an English lesson (Template:Tl) – it was moved by mistake and put back in step 14.
- НБ – Семья: the Russian and English titles were the wrong way round – swapped.
- Course 0/Russian: each step showed only 14 lessons (step 19 has 15) – the limit is now 30.
