Пять па́льцев – пять вопро́сов. Each finger is a question word: thumb кто?, then что? где? когда́? почему́? Show a finger – the others ask a question with that word. ✋
Вопро́с и́ли нет? Say «Сыр есть» – as a question ↗ or as a statement ↘; the others show ❓ or 👍.
Угада́йте вопро́с. One gives an answer: «В холоди́льнике!» – the others guess the question: «Где сыр?» 😄

зада́ть вопро́с – to ask a question (not «спроси́ть вопро́с»). Or simply спроси́ть: Я спрошу́.
зада́ть is like дать: я зада́м, вы зада́дите.
Five question words: кто, что, где, когда́, почему́.
A yes/no question = the same words, the voice goes up ↗: Сыр е́сть?

ударе́ние⁠ – stress – shows the syllable you say louder and longer, just like in English: LUN-dun (London), TEL-ih-fohn (telephone).

ЛО́НДОН⁠ – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н⁠ – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.

The sign is only a help for learners. Russian books don't print it, and you don't write it.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?

English: you ask a question. Russian: you set it – зада́ть вопро́с – or you simply спроси́ть, with no «question» after it. «Спроси́ть вопро́с» is like «to ask an ask» – Scuffles did it! 😼

Guessing first. Even a wrong guess helps the right answer stay – Kornell · Hays · Bjork 2009.
The cat makes the mistake. Scuffles says «спрошу́ вопро́с» – the student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
