Сли́нки пока́зывает ла́пу: па́льцы! 🐾
Ска́ффлз: Ура́! Сли́нки загада́ла! 🎉
- Ната́ша: Отгада́ла, Ска́ффлз! Ты загада́ла – Сли́нки отгада́ла.
- Ри́чард: За- – зага́дку даю́т. От- – отве́т нашли́! 📒
- Ната́ша: А пото́м – посло́вица и ска́зка. Э́то награ́да! 😄

★ За- и́ли от-?
загада́ть – to give a riddle: the secret goes in 🤫 · отгада́ть – to guess it: the answer comes out 💡
Ска́ффлз загада́ла – Сли́нки отгада́ла.
🌱 The seed of the day: the reward of the lesson – a proverb, a riddle or a tale. And two little starts change the meaning: загада́ть – отгада́ть.
Скажи́те ка́ждую строку́ вслух – и сде́лайте. · Say every line aloud – and do it.
Я загада́ю зага́дку. 🤫
Отгада́йте! 💡
Ска́ффлз загада́ла, Сли́нки отгада́ла. 🐈🐈
Награ́да – ска́зка! 📖
Ска́зка ско́ро ска́зывается… 🦉
- Бу́дьте учи́телем! · Be the teacher – ask someone the riddle of День 16 or День 8: «Я загада́ю зага́дку…»
- When they guess it: «Вы отгада́ли! Молоде́ц!» 🎉
- Say a proverb you like – and what it means, in five words. 🦉
- Говори́ть – не обяза́тельно. · Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Мо́жете без ви́део? · Can you do it without the video? – Молоде́ц! ✔
Угада́йте – пото́м нажми́те. · Guess, then tap. A wrong tap is not a mistake – it is a guess. 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! · Two small things left – two minutes.
- ОТГАДА́ТЬ – Т before Г becomes Д, and the О without stress is А: «ад-га-да́ть».
- Compare ЗАГАДА́ТЬ – «за-га-да́ть»: here nothing changes.
- Clap: за-га-ДА́ТЬ 👏 – ад-га-ДА́ТЬ 👏. 30 секу́нд ка́ждый день. · 30 seconds every day.
Найди́те посло́вицу и зага́дку для ва́шего уро́ка. Отве́т зага́дки – сло́во ва́шего уро́ка. 🦉🧩 · Find a proverb and a riddle for your lesson – in Russian or in your language. The answer of the riddle is a word of your lesson.
Э́то пе́рвая мину́та Дня 22. · That is the first minute of День 22 – so it starts with a win.
Мо́жно зако́нчить здесь – до за́втра! · You may stop here – see you tomorrow: День 22 · Перево́дим наш уро́к ▶
- Загада́й – отгада́й. One thinks of a word of the course and shows it with a gesture; the others guess: «Вы загада́ли… ру́чку!» 🤫💡
- Полови́нки. The teacher says the first half of a proverb – the others finish it: «Ти́ше е́дешь…» – «…да́льше бу́дешь!» 🦉 (День 6!)
- Ска́зка в одно́й строке́. Tell a tale you know in one line: «Ко́лобок убежа́л от всех – но лиса́ его́ съе́ла.» 😄
Remembering a word with the whole body works better than reading it again.
A tale is soon told, but a deed is not soon done.
The old storytellers’ line: in a tale, years pass in one sentence – in life it takes time. Your lesson too: easy to tell, slow to make. 🤸 Gesture: a quick wave on «ско́ро» – then slow, heavy hands on «не ско́ро».
The folk tales of Курс 4 – on the site and free to use in your lesson. And a proverb page: Russian, English beside it, and the same proverb in other languages. · Ска́зки и посло́вицы для ва́шего уро́ка.
- Награ́да в конце́. · The reward at the end. A proverb, a riddle or a tale – the student goes away with a smile.
- Зага́дка = сло́во дня. · The riddle’s answer = a word of the day. They guess it – and remember it.
- То́лько свобо́дные те́ксты. · Only free texts. Folk tales, proverbs, riddles, poems from before 1929 – not modern books, not cartoons.
- 🌍 На ва́шем языке́: find a proverb in your language that says the same as a Russian one: English Rome wasn’t built in a day = «Не сра́зу Москва́ стро́илась» (День 17). Proverb twins – like in Курс 4.
Прочита́йте ка́ждую строку́ вслух, ме́дленно. · Read every line aloud, slowly. Tap a word to check. ✋
🧩 Today's words: НАГРА́ДА · ЗАГАДА́ТЬ · ОТГАДА́ТЬ
Я загада́ю зага́дку – отгада́йте!
Пять бра́тьев: года́ми ра́вные, ро́стом ра́зные.
Ска́ффлз: «Сли́нки загада́ла!» – Нет, отгада́ла! 😼
Ска́ффлз загада́ла, Сли́нки отгада́ла.

гада́ть – to guess; to tell fortunes 🔮 · дога́дка – a guess, an idea 💡
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Scuffles, the lesson is over. And where is the reward? – The reward is a riddle! Slinky, I’ll ask you a riddle: «Five brothers: the same age, not the same height.» – Slinky shows her paw: the toes! – Hooray! Slinky «загада́ла» – asked it! (Scuffles’s mistake) – «Отгада́ла», Scuffles – she guessed it! You asked the riddle – Slinky guessed it. – За- – a riddle is given. От- – the answer is found! – And then – a proverb and a tale. That is the reward!
- загада́ть – to give a riddle · отгада́ть – to guess it.
- Ска́ффлз загада́ла – Сли́нки отгада́ла (she: -ла).
- загада́ть: я загада́ю, вы загада́ете → Отгада́йте!
- The reward of a lesson: 🦉 a proverb · 🧩 a riddle · 📖 a tale – free texts only.
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English needs two different verbs: to ask a riddle – to guess a riddle. Russian keeps one root, -гада-, and changes only the start: загада́ть – отгада́ть. Learn the root once – get two words! 😄
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- Curiosity helps memory. When people really want to know the answer, they remember it – and things around it – better: Gruber · Gelman · Ranganath 2014.
- Joy at the end. Enjoyment in class helps students to try and to come back – Dewaele · MacIntyre 2014.
- Word parts. Knowing prefixes and roots helps learners guess new words – Nation 2001.
- The cat makes the mistake. Scuffles says «Сли́нки загада́ла» – the student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
