Я… Наташа!

📍 This little story belongs to День 8 of Course 1. Watch, laugh, say it about you – then go back to the lesson.
🎬 Ма́ленькая исто́рия · A little story
Я… Ната́ша!
I'm… Natasha! – Masha says who she is (and gets mixed up)
⏱ 10 min · 🎒 You need: a family photo, if you have one
👀👂 Смотри́те и слу́шайте · Watch and listen
  • Don't read anything yet. Just listen.
  • Ма́ша is Ната́ша's daughter and Ма́йя's mum.
  • Listen for Я… – Masha says it again and again. That is «I» – your very first word, from День 1 👉.
  • At the end Masha says «Я… Ната́ша…» – and laughs. Why? 😄 (The last quiz question tells you.)

Switch the video off. Now talk about you, like Masha:

  1. Я … (your name) 👉 – and show your photo: Э́то моя́ ма́ма.
  2. Copy the whole phrase: Я живу́ в … (your town).
  3. Now get mixed up like Masha – say your mum's name, then laugh: Я… ой! Я …! 😄

Can you do it without the video? – Молоде́ц!

💡 Заме́тьте · What to notice
  • Я Ма́ша = I'm Masha. Just «я» + the name – no am, like «Я Ната́ша» on День 1.
  • Э́то моя́ ма́ма – моя́, like моё кольцо́ on День 8: ма́ма is «она́», so моя́.
  • Ната́шина до́чка = Natasha's daughter. Ма́йина ма́ма = Maya's mum. The name gets -ина – that is the Russian -'s. The same question as «моя́»: whose?
  • Hear the stress: ма́ма, до́чка – at the start; Ната́ша – in the middle; живу́ – at the end. Clap it!
  • Я живу́ – мы живём: the word changes with the person. Just copy it for now.
  • в Ло́ндоне – after в (in) the word gets -е, like в су́мке and в газе́те: Ло́ндон → в Ло́ндоне.
