📖 Что э́то зна́чит? · what it means
Е́сли тебе́ что́-то даю́т – бери́. Е́сли тебя́ бьют – не стой, убега́й. Э́то шу́тка – и хоро́ший сове́т.
If someone gives you something – take it. If someone hits you – don't stand there, run. Half a joke, half good advice. English has no twin; the first half is close to Never look a gift horse in the mouth.

🎓 Для тех, кто у́чится серьёзно · for serious students
  • No word for "they": даю́т, бьют – the verb alone means "people" in general.
  • бери́, беги́ – «ты» commands; they sound alike, so the saying is easy to remember.
  • бьют – the soft sign ь keeps б and ю apart: б-ь-ю-т. You read it on День 13, when ь comes.

🔬 Why a page like this: a proverb with its story and picture is remembered better than a bare translation (Boers 2001); words + picture beat words alone (Mayer). It stays out of the lesson video so the lesson keeps one new thing.
