День 26 из 32: Де́лаю – сде́лал!
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 3 – сде́лать, прочита́ть, написа́ть.
🗣️ Глаго́л дня · Verb of the day: де́лать – сде́лать · ★ несоверше́нный вид (impf) = doing · соверше́нный вид (pf) = done
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Stand up! Your homework from День 25: pull slowly «Тя́нут-потя́нут…» 〰️ – then stamp «Вы́тянули!» ✅
You remembered it – that is your first win today. Today the long pull and the stamp get their names. ★
- Don't read anything yet. Listen: what does Natasha write? Why can't Richard read? 👂
- A long movement 〰️ on пишу́, чита́ю, де́лаю – a stamp ✅ on написа́ла, прочита́ла, сде́лал.
Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. Tap a word or its picture – the dictionary opens. 🔊 = listen. Each verb has a brother for «done»:
- де́лаю, чита́ю, пишу́ – I am doing it now, it goes on. 〰️
- сде́лал(а), прочита́л(а), написа́л(а) – finished, the result is there. ✅
- The «done» brother often has a small piece in front: с-де́лать, про-чита́ть, на-писа́ть (and вы́-тянуть from yesterday!).
👂 Listen first. Long movement 〰️ or stamp ✅ on every verb.
- Ната́ша: Я пишу́ письмо́… пишу́… 〰️ Всё! Я написа́ла! ✅
- Ри́чард: Я чита́ю газе́ту… 〰️ –
Сли́нки (lies down on the newspaper): … 😴 – Ри́чард: Я не могу́ чита́ть!
Ска́ффлз: Я прочита́ла весь день!
- Ната́ша: Нет, Ска́ффлз! Весь день ты чита́ла. 〰️ А пото́м – всё! – ты прочита́ла. ✅ – Ска́ффлз: Р-р-р… Весь день я чита́ла! 😾
- Ната́ша: Ри́чард, что ты де́лаешь? – Ри́чард: Я де́лаю уро́ки… Всё! Я сде́лал! ✅
★ The rule in 30 seconds – вид глаго́ла (the aspect). Almost every Russian verb has two brothers:
| 〰️ doing · impf несоверше́нный вид |
✅ done · pf соверше́нный вид |
|---|---|
| де́лать – я де́лаю, я де́лал | сде́лать – я сде́лал |
| чита́ть – я чита́ю, я чита́л | прочита́ть – я прочита́л |
| писа́ть – я пишу́, я писа́л | написа́ть – я написа́л |
| тяну́ть – они́ тя́нут | вы́тянуть – они́ вы́тянули |
impf = the process, it goes on, or it happens often · pf = one time, finished, with a result. Весь день (all day) always takes the impf. 〰️
🌱 The seed of the day: when you learn a new verb, learn both brothers – де́лать / сде́лать. The dictionary page shows them side by side.
Say every line aloud – a long movement, then a stamp. 〰️ ✅
Я де́лаю… – Я сде́лал(а)! ✅
Я чита́ю… – Я прочита́л(а)! ✅
Я пишу́… – Я написа́л(а)! ✅
Весь день я чита́л(а). 〰️
Что ты де́лаешь? – Что ты сде́лал(а)?
- Take a book: read one line slowly – «Я чита́ю…» 〰️ – shut the book – «Я прочита́л(а)!» ✅
- Write your name: «Я пишу́…» – full stop – «Я написа́л(а)!»
- Ask someone: «Что ты де́лаешь?» – and later: «Ты сде́лал(а)?»
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. Doing 〰️ or done ✅? A wrong tap is a guess. 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
с before д sounds like з: сде́лать = «зде́лать». The mouth gets ready for the д. 😮
- Say it fast, as one word: зде́ – зде́лал! ✅
- The same in сда́ча (change in a shop) – «зда́ча».
- 30 seconds, every day – you sound like a Russian.
Tomorrow, with a book: «Я чита́ю…» 〰️ – shut it – «Я прочита́л(а)!» ✅
That is the first minute of День 27. You already know it – so День 27 starts with a win.
You may stop here – see you tomorrow: День 27 · Где сыр? – Съе́лся! ▶
- Doing or done? Somebody mimes: writing on and on → everybody says «Пи́шет!» 〰️ · a big full stop → «Написа́л!» ✅
- Stop! One person «reads» a book. The others say «Чита́ешь?» – «Чита́ю!» – then «Стоп!» – the reader shuts the book: «Прочита́л(а)!» ✅
- Two brothers. Somebody says the impf – «де́лать!» – the others stamp and answer the pf: «Сде́лать!» (чита́ть – прочита́ть, писа́ть – написа́ть, тяну́ть – вы́тянуть).
Without work you won't even pull a little fish out of the pond.
вы́тащишь – like вы́тянуть: «pull out», done! ✅ The result needs work first. 🐟 🤸 Gesture: pull a fishing line slowly 〰️ – then lift the fish out ✅.
Read every line aloud, slowly. Every word is one you know. Tap a word to check. ✋
🙌 Today's words: СДЕ́ЛАЛ · ПРОЧИТА́Л · НАПИСА́Л
Ната́ша пи́шет письмо́. 〰️ Всё! Она́ написа́ла. ✅
Ри́чард чита́ет газе́ту. Сли́нки спит на газе́те. 😴
Весь день Ска́ффлз чита́ла журна́л.
Что ты де́лаешь? – Я де́лаю уро́ки. Всё! Я сде́лал!
чита́ть → чита́тель – a reader · писа́ть → писа́тель – a writer, письмо́ – a letter ✉️
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Я пишу́ письмо́… Всё! Я написа́ла! – Я чита́ю газе́ту… Я не могу́ чита́ть! – Я прочита́ла весь день! – Нет, Ска́ффлз! Весь день ты чита́ла. А пото́м ты прочита́ла. – Р-р-р… Весь день я чита́ла! – Ри́чард, что ты де́лаешь? – Я де́лаю уро́ки… Всё! Я сде́лал!
I'm writing a letter… That's it! I've written it! – I'm reading the newspaper… I can't read! – I read it through all day! (Scuffles's mistake) – No, Scuffles! All day you were reading. And then you finished it. – Grrr… All day I was reading! – Richard, what are you doing? – I'm doing my homework… That's it! I've done it!
- ★ вид глаго́ла – the aspect: two brothers for one action.
- impf (несоверше́нный вид) 〰️: the process, again and again – де́лать, чита́ть, писа́ть.
- pf (соверше́нный вид) ✅: once, finished, a result – сде́лать, прочита́ть, написа́ть.
- The past of both: -л, -ла, -ли (День 17) – чита́л / прочита́л.
- весь день → impf: Весь день я чита́л.
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English has it too – in its own way. «I was reading» 〰️ = чита́л · «I have read it / I read it through» ✅ = прочита́л. Russian puts the difference inside the verb, so it can't be forgotten. 😄
Natasha's tip: ask «Is there a result?» – a written letter, a read book, a pulled-out turnip. Yes → pf. ✅
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- The rule after the tale. Yesterday the body learned the difference (pull 〰️ / stamp ✅); today the rule gets its name – first the experience, then the label (Ellis 2005, principles of instructed language learning).
- Learn the pair together. A verb learned with its brother (де́лать / сде́лать) is easier to use right than one learned alone – the learner sees at once which one fits.
- A colour for each aspect. Teal for impf, orange for pf – on every day of this part, so the eye finds them at once.
- The cat makes the mistakes. The student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
