День 27 из 32: Где сыр? – Съе́лся!
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 3 – съесть, сыр, холоди́льник.
🗣️ Глаго́л дня · Verb of the day: есть – я ем, ты ешь, он ест, мы еди́м, вы еди́те, они́ едя́т · ✅ съесть – я съел(а)
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Stand up! Your homework from День 26, with a book: «Я чита́ю…» 〰️ – shut it – «Я прочита́л(а)!» ✅
You remembered it – that is your first win today. Now open the fridge… where is the cheese? 🧀
- Don't read anything yet. Listen: who ate the cheese? Who ate Slinky's food? 👂
- Long movement 〰️ on ем – stamp ✅ on съе́ла, съел.
Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. Tap a word or its picture – the dictionary opens. 🔊 = listen.
- я ем – I am eating 〰️ · я съел(а) – I have eaten it up ✅ (the plate is empty).
- Съе́лся! – «It ate itself!» – a joke: nobody wants to say «I ate it». 😄 (Course 1 knew the fridge from the riddle on День 37 – ХОЛОДИ́ЛЬНИК!)
- есть has its own forms – learn them like a song: ем, ешь, ест – еди́м, еди́те, едя́т.
👂 Listen first. Spoon 〰️ on «ем», pat your tummy ✅ on «съел».
- Ната́ша: Я ем сыр… ем… 〰️ Всё! Я съе́ла! ✅
- Ри́чард (opens the fridge): Ната́ша, где сыр? – Ната́ша: Съе́лся! 😄 – Ри́чард: Сам? – Ната́ша: Сам!
Сли́нки (looks at her empty bowl): … 😾
Ска́ффлз (licking her lips): Съе́лась!
- Ната́ша: Нет, Ска́ффлз! Не «съе́лась». Ты съе́ла! – Ска́ффлз: Р-р-р… Я съе́ла. 😾
🌱 The seed of the day: ем 〰️ – съел ✅. And a Russian way to hide: «съе́лся» – the cheese did it by itself! The «-ся» at the end means «itself» – you'll meet it often.
Say every line aloud – spoon, then pat your tummy. 〰️ ✅
Я ем. Ты ешь. Он ест. 〰️
Мы еди́м. Вы еди́те. Они́ едя́т.
Я съел(а) сыр! ✅
Ма́ма, где сыр? – Съе́лся! 😄
Ска́ффлз, ты съе́ла? – Я съе́ла.
- Eat something small: «Я ем…» 〰️ – the last bite – «Я съел(а)!» ✅
- Open the fridge and ask: «Где сыр?» – answer with an innocent face: «Съе́лся!» 😄
- Ask someone: «Что ты ешь?»
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. Doing 〰️ or done ✅? A wrong tap is a guess. 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
съесть – the ъ (твёрдый знак) keeps «с» and «е» apart: с-ЕСТЬ, not «сесть» (to sit down)! 😮
- Make a tiny pause: с · ъе́л – съел 👏
- съел (ate up) ≠ сел (sat down) – Scuffles mixes them up all the time. 😄
- 30 seconds, every day.
Tomorrow, open the fridge: «Где сыр?» – «Съе́лся!» 😄 – and then honestly: «Я съел(а)!» ✅
That is the first minute of День 28. You already know it – so День 28 starts with a win.
- Who ate it? Hide a sweet. Everybody asks «Где конфе́та?» – the one who has it says «Съе́лась!» 😄 – the others: «Нет! Ты съел(а)!»
- Song of есть. Clap the rhythm: «ем – ешь – ест 👏 · еди́м – еди́те – едя́т 👏👏».
- Eat or ate up? Spoon 〰️ = «ем!» · tummy pat ✅ = «съел!»
Who lives in my tummy? – a funny lesson with toys and a big jumper. 🧸 After «съел» – what is in your tummy now?
Tap the title – the page opens; the bar at its top brings you back here.
Appetite comes with eating.
Natasha wanted only a little… and the cheese «съе́лся». 😄 🤸 Gesture: a small spoon 〰️ – then bigger and bigger, both arms wide.
Read every line aloud, slowly. Every word is one you know. Tap a word to check. ✋
🙌 Today's words: ЕМ · СЪЕЛ · СЫР · ХОЛОДИ́ЛЬНИК
Ната́ша ест сыр. 〰️ Всё! Она́ съе́ла сыр. ✅
Ри́чард открыва́ет холоди́льник. Где сыр?
– Съе́лся! 😄
Ска́ффлз съе́ла еду́ Сли́нки. Сли́нки не ест. 😾
холоди́льник ← хо́лод – cold, холо́дный – cold (adjective) ❄️ · сыр → сы́рник – a little cheese pancake 🥞
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Я ем сыр… ем… Всё! Я съе́ла! – Ната́ша, где сыр? – Съе́лся! – Сам? – Сам! – Съе́лась! – Нет, Ска́ффлз! Не «съе́лась». Ты съе́ла! – Р-р-р… Я съе́ла.
I'm eating cheese… eating… That's it! I've eaten it! – Natasha, where's the cheese? – It ate itself! – By itself? – By itself! – It ate itself! (Scuffles) – No, Scuffles! Not «it ate itself». You ate it! – Grrr… I ate it.
- есть 〰️ (impf) – ем, ешь, ест, еди́м, еди́те, едя́т · past: ел, е́ла, е́ли.
- съесть ✅ (pf) – съел, съе́ла, съе́ли – eaten up, nothing left.
- -ся = itself: съе́лся – «it ate itself» – Natasha's joke. 😄
- ъ after с: с-ъесть – two sounds, not one.
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
Eat – eat up. English adds «up» for the finished meal; Russian adds с- in front: ем – съел. ✅
Natasha's joke is a real Russian family joke: a daughter opens the fridge – «Ма́ма, где сыр?» – «Съе́лся!» Every Russian mum knows it. 😄
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- A joke you will never forget. Humour makes a word stick: «Съе́лся!» brings back съесть every time you open a fridge.
- An irregular verb as a song. ем – ешь – ест has its own forms; a rhythm with claps is the easiest way to learn a short irregular list.
- The pair again. есть / съесть follows the pattern of yesterday – a new pair with the same gestures 〰️ ✅.
- The cat makes the mistakes. The student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
