День 28 из 40: Как говоря́т сейча́с
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 3 – кру́то, кла́ссно, лайк.
🗣️ Глаго́л дня · Verb of the day: ла́йкать – «Я ла́йкнул(а) твоё фо́то» – I liked your photo 👍
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Your homework from День 27: a thumbs up 👍, like a teenager:
«Кру́то! Кла́ссно! Спс!» 📱
You remembered it – that is your first win today. Yesterday – the most serious Russian. Today – the most relaxed. 😎
- Tap and listen. Then do it: кру́то – a cool wave 😎 · кла́ссно – a thumbs up 👍 · спс – type on your phone 📱.
- This is the Russian of friends and chats. Know it – and know where not to use it (День 25!).
Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. Tap a word or its picture – the dictionary opens. 🔊 = listen.
кру́то – great, cool 😎 (it really means «steep») · кла́ссно – great 👍 (from «класс») · лайк – a like 👍 (from English)
👂 Listen first. Type on your phone 📱 on every chat word.
Ска́ффлз (writes to the vet): «Прив, док! Ща приду́. Спс!» 📱
📱 Chat Russian – short words
прив = приве́т · норм = норма́льно · ща = сейча́с · спс = спаси́бо · пж / плз = пожа́луйста · ок = хорошо́
кру́то, кла́ссно, прико́льно, су́пер = great 😎 · ла́йкать – ла́йкнуть = to like (a photo) 👍
Where? 📱 friends, family, chats. Not with a doctor, a teacher, at work, in a letter (День 35!).
Many come from English: лайк (like), пост (a post), ча́титься (to chat), гугли́ть (to google) – День 30. 🌍
🌱 The seed of the day: chat Russian is short and fast – but it is a style, like the news. Choose it for the right person.
Say every line aloud – thumbs up 👍 for chat, a bow 🙇 for the doctor.
📱 Прив! Как дела́? – Норм. 👍
📱 Ща приду́. Спс! 😎
🙇 Здра́вствуйте, до́ктор! Я ско́ро приду́. Спаси́бо!
Кру́то! Кла́ссно! Прико́льно! 😎👍😉
- Write a chat message to a friend in Russian – «Прив! Как дела́? Ща…» 📱
- Then write the same to your doctor – «Здра́вствуйте! …» 🙇 Two styles, one message.
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. Chat or not? A wrong tap is a guess. 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
In fast speech Russians «eat» sounds – and chats write it down:
- сейча́с → «щас» → «ща» · здра́вствуйте → «здра́сьте» (День 25) · тебя́ → «тя» · что → «чё» 😄
- Understand them – but say the full word yourself; it is always right.
- Clap on the loud syllable: КРУ́-то 👏 · КЛА́СС-но 👏 · при-КО́ЛЬ-но 👏. 30 seconds, every day.
Tomorrow morning look at a calendar 📅 and say: «Неде́ля – семь дней. Понеде́льник – пе́рвый день.» – and think: why «понеде́льник»? 🤔
That is the first minute of День 29. You already know it – so День 29 starts with a win.
- Translate the chat. One says a chat word – the others say the full word: «спс!» – «спаси́бо!» · «ща!» – «сейча́с!» · «норм!» – «норма́льно!» · «прив!» – «приве́т!»
- Who is it? One reads a message aloud – «Здра́вствуйте! С уваже́нием…» or «Прив! Ща!» – the others guess: a friend 😎 or an office 🏢?
- Like it! One says something – the others «like» it with a thumbs up and «Кру́то!» or «Кла́ссно!» 👍
Every town has its temper, every village its custom.
Every place – and every group of people – has its own way of talking. Teenagers have chat Russian, newsreaders have news Russian. 🏙️🏡 🤸 Gesture: point at different places on a map, a different face each time.
Read the chat aloud – then say it the full way. 📱 ✋
🙌 Today's words: КРУ́ТО · КЛА́ССНО · ЛАЙК
📱 – Прив! Как дела́?
📱 – Норм. А у тебя́?
📱 – Кла́ссно! Ща фо́тку пришлю́.
📱 – Кру́то! Лайк! 👍
📱 – Спс! 😊
The full way: «Приве́т! Как дела́? – Норма́льно. А у тебя́? – Отли́чно! Сейча́с пришлю́ фотогра́фию. – Замеча́тельно! Мне нра́вится! – Спаси́бо!»
класс – a class (at school) · кла́ссно – great · Класс! – Great! 👍 · однокла́ссник – a classmate
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
«Прив, док! Ща приду́. Спс!» – Ска́ффлз! Э́то врач, не твой друг! «Здра́вствуйте, до́ктор! Я ско́ро приду́. Спаси́бо!» – А Сли́нки? «Сли́нки, прив! Ща бу́ду. Спс, кру́то!» – Вот – Сли́нки мо́жно! – А мне? – «Ри́чард, где сыр? Ща!» Сли́нки ла́йкает сообще́ние.
«Hi, doc! Be there in a sec. Thx!» (Scuffles's mistake: chat style to a doctor) – Scuffles! This is a doctor, not your friend! «Good day, doctor! I'll come soon. Thank you!» – And Slinky? «Slinky, hi! Be there in a sec. Thx, cool!» – Yes – to Slinky you can! – And to me? – «Richard, where's the cheese? Now!» Slinky likes the message.
- Chat Russian: прив, норм, ща, спс, пж, ок.
- Great = кру́то, кла́ссно, прико́льно, су́пер.
- English words: лайк, пост, ча́титься, гугли́ть.
- 📱 friends and family – 🙇 not doctors, teachers, work, letters.
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English chats have «thx», «pls», «brb» – Russian has «спс», «пж», «ща». And Russians even use Latin letters for laughing: «ахаха» or «лол» (from English LOL). 😂
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- Yesterday's homework first. Remembering without looking is one of the best-proven tools: Agarwal · Nunes · Blunt 2021.
- Style is part of meaning. Knowing which word fits which person and place (sociolinguistic competence) is one of the main parts of real language skill (Canale · Swain 1980).
- The body does the word. A gesture on every form ties the form to a movement: Macedonia · Knösche 2011.
- The cat makes the mistakes. Scuffles says it wrong – the student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
