День 6 из 40: Прочита́в, закры́ла
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 3 – прочита́в, сказа́в, уви́дев.
🗣️ Глаго́л дня · Verb of the day: прочита́ть – он прочита́л → прочита́в = first read, then…
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Your homework from День 5: one page, then the book closed ✅:
«Я прочита́л(а) страни́цу и закры́л(а) кни́гу.» 📖✅
You remembered it – that is your first win today. Today: the short book way – «Прочита́в страни́цу, я закры́л(а) кни́гу.»
- Tap a word and listen. Then do it: stamp your fist on your palm ✅ – then move your arm forward 👉: first this – then that.
- Прочита́в страни́цу, я закры́ла кни́гу. = First I read the page ✅, then I closed the book 👉.
Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. Tap a word or its picture – the dictionary opens. 🔊 = listen.
Курс 2 again: чита́ть 〰️ – прочита́ть ✅ · говори́ть 〰️ – сказа́ть ✅ · ви́деть 〰️ – уви́деть ✅. Today's words come from the ✅ verbs.
👂 Listen first. Stamp ✅ and point forward 👉 on every -в word.
★ Two gerunds (дееприча́стия) – 30 seconds.
| 〰️〰️ at the same time | ✅👉 first this, then that |
|---|---|
| они́ чита́-ют → чита́я | он прочита́-л → прочита́в |
| они́ говор-я́т → говоря́ | он сказа́-л → сказа́в |
| они́ ви́д-ят → ви́дя | он уви́де-л → уви́дев |
- 〰️ -я comes from the 〰️ verb (они́). ✅ -в comes from the ✅ verb (the past: -л → -в).
- In old books and proverbs: -вши – сня́вши = сняв.
- Both: the same person does both things. Both: no endings.
🌱 The seed of the day: -в = ✅ first, then 👉 the next thing. Now you know all five book forms. Tomorrow: where Russians use them – in books – and what they say in life.
Say every line aloud – ✅ then 👉.
Прочита́в страни́цу, я закры́л(а) кни́гу. 📖
Сказа́в «Спаси́бо», Ри́чард сел за стол. ☕
Уви́дев Ри́чарда, Ска́ффлз побежа́ла на ку́хню. 🏃
Чита́я 〰️〰️ – прочита́в ✅👉.
- Say three things you did this morning, the book way: «Вста́в, я умы́лся / умы́лась.» ✅👉 «Вы́пив ко́фе, я сел(а) за уро́к.» ☕
- Then the home way: «Я вы́пил(а) ко́фе и сел(а) за уро́к.»
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. 〰️〰️ -я or ✅👉 -в? A wrong tap is a guess. 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
ПРОЧИТА́В sounds «прачита́ф».
- At the end of a word В sounds Ф: прочита́в «прачита́ф» · сказа́в «сказа́ф» · уви́дев «уви́диф».
- The same in words you know: Ки́ев «Ки́иф», любо́вь «любо́фь».
- Clap on the loud syllable: про-чи-ТА́В 👏 · ска-ЗА́В 👏 · у-ВИ́-дев 👏. 30 seconds, every day.
Tomorrow morning tell the tale of День 1 in one sentence: «Ма́ша сиди́т в коро́бе и гляди́т све́рху.» ☝️🫡 – Tomorrow you will read it the book way.
That is the first minute of День 7. You already know it – so День 7 starts with a win.
- ✅👉 or 〰️〰️? One person does two things: first claps, then sits (✅👉) – or walks and sings together (〰️〰️). The others: «Похло́пав, он сел!» · «Гуля́я, она́ поёт!»
- The morning chain. Each person adds one link: «Вста́в, я…» – «Вы́пив чай, я…» – «Прочита́в уро́к, я…» – how long can the chain get? 😄
- Find the pair. One says «чита́я» – the other says «прочита́в». «говоря́» – «сказа́в». «ви́дя» – «уви́дев».
When your head is off, you don't cry about your hair.
When a big thing is lost, don't cry about the small things. «сня́вши» – the old book form of сняв (✅👉, like today's words: снял → сняв → сня́вши). 🤸 Gesture: both hands lift something off your head, then a little wave «never mind».
Read every line aloud, slowly. Find the -в words – and the -я words. ✋
🙌 Today's words:
– «till we see each other» 👋
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Having read the page, I closed the book. – Thank you for the tea! – Having said «Thank you», Richard sat down at the table. Having seen Richard, Scuffles ran to the kitchen! – Scuffles sits on the book: «Reading» the book, I closed it! (Scuffles's mistake: прочита́я) – No! Not «прочита́я» – прочита́в. First you read it – then you closed it. And really – do you read? – I look at the pictures! – Miaow! Slinky, having seen Scuffles on the book, falls asleep.
- ★ дееприча́стие – two kinds:
- 〰️〰️ -я – at the same time (from 〰️ verbs): чита́я, говоря́, ви́дя.
- ✅👉 -в – first this, then that (from ✅ verbs): прочита́в, сказа́в, уви́дев. The past -л → -в.
- Old books: -вши (сня́вши).
- The same person does both things. No endings.
- Speech: «Я прочита́ла страни́цу и закры́ла кни́гу.»
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English says «Having read the page, I closed the book» – three words for one Russian прочита́в. Or simply «After reading…». Russian books love the short way; your friends at home will say «Я прочита́л и закры́л». 😉
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- Yesterday's homework first. Remembering without looking is one of the best-proven tools: Agarwal · Nunes · Blunt 2021.
- Two forms side by side. Forms that look alike are easier to tell apart when you see them together and notice the difference (Schmidt 1990, the noticing hypothesis).
- Old pattern, new word. Every new form is built from a form the student already knows (они́ чита́ют, он съел), so the new step is small.
- The body does the word. A gesture on every form ties the form to a movement: Macedonia · Knösche 2011.
- The cat makes the mistakes. Scuffles says it wrong – the student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
