- СЛУ́ШАТЬ – the end -ТЬ is soft: tongue on the teeth, smile, stop: слу́ша-ть. Not «слу́шат». · Ь = мя́гкий знак.
- Say both: слу́шать – слу́шаем, говори́ть – говори́м: what to do – what we do.
- Clap on the loud syllable: БУ́-дем СЛУ́-шать 👏 👏. 30 секу́нд ка́ждый день. · 30 seconds every day.

- Уро́к за 15 секу́нд. A whole «lesson» in 15 seconds: one word, one gesture, one question, «Молоде́ц!» – the others keep the time. ⏱😄
Remembering a word with the whole body works better than reading it again.

A good lesson grows part by part: today the shape, tomorrow the warm-up and the story. Your first lesson doesn’t have to be perfect. 🤸 Gesture: put brick on brick with your hands, higher and higher. 🧱

Scuffles, you want to be a teacher. What is your plan? – Here is my plan! Today we «will listen-we»! (Scuffles’s mistake) – Scuffles: «мы бу́дем слу́шать». After «бу́дем» comes the -ть word. – Today we will listen, we will speak… and we will eat cheese! – And I will listen. I am a pupil! – Slinky looks at the clock… and falls asleep. – That is why a lesson is fifteen minutes!
- бу́ду / бу́дем / бу́дете + -ть = will: Мы бу́дем слу́шать. Я бу́ду говори́ть. Вы бу́дете повторя́ть?
- The -ть word does not change: бу́дем слу́шать (not «слу́шаем»).
- за + time = how long it takes: уро́к за 15 мину́т.
- ★ A lesson = 9 parts: 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 15 мину́т.
ударе́ние – stress – shows the syllable you say louder and longer, just like in English: LUN-dun (London), TEL-ih-fohn (telephone).
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English puts «will» before the word: we will listen. Russian does the same with бу́дем: мы бу́дем слу́шать. But the little word changes with the person – я бу́ду, мы бу́дем, вы бу́дете – and the -ть word stays. Scuffles changed the wrong one! 😼
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- The same shape every time. When the parts always come in the same order, the student spends no effort on «what now?» and keeps it for the language – Sweller 1988, cognitive load.
- Little and often. Short daily lessons beat one long one: Stoltzfus · Sukseemuang 2018; Rogers · Nakata · Chiu 2025.
- Who expects to teach, learns better. Students told they would teach the material later remembered more of it – Nestojko et al. 2014.
- The cat makes the mistake. Scuffles says «бу́дем слу́шаем» – the student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
