★ Как написа́ть оши́бку ко́шки · How to write the cat’s mistake – 30 seconds
- One mistake – the thing you teach today.
- A real mistake – one your students really make.
- Funny, never stupid – we laugh with the cat, not at the student.
- Somebody corrects it kindly – and says why in five words.
- Then the right form comes three times: о ко́шке – о ко́шке – о ко́шке.

Before a vowel – об: об уро́ке, об исто́рии. Names in -и don't change: о Сли́нки.

- О ком? О чём? One says a word: «ко́шка!» – the others answer «о ко́шке!»; «сыр!» – «о сы́ре!»; «уро́к!» – «об уро́ке!» 👏
- Ко́шка ошиба́ется. One plays the cat and says a line wrong on purpose; the others correct it kindly – with a smile, never «No!» 😼
- Исто́рия по кру́гу. A story round the table: each adds one line «о ко́шке…». Who laughs first, starts the next story. 😂
Remembering a word with the whole body works better than reading it again.
A good beginning is half the work.
The warm-up is the good beginning: the student starts with a win – and half the lesson is done. 🤸 Gesture: thumbs up 👍, then cut the air in half with your hand.

- о + -е = about: о ко́шке, о сы́ре, о Москве́.
- Before a vowel – об: об уро́ке, об исто́рии.
- Names in -и don't change: о Сли́нки.
- рассказа́ть: я расскажу́, вы расска́жете – З → Ж, like показа́ть – покажу́ (День 14).
ударе́ние – stress – shows the syllable you say louder and longer, just like in English: LUN-dun (London), TEL-ih-fohn (telephone).
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English: a story about a cat – «cat» stays the same. Russian: a story о ко́шке – the cat changes too! Two signs for one idea: the little word о and the ending -е. Scuffles forgot the ending. 😼
