День 12 из 40: Мы́шка бежа́ла
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 3 – бежа́ть, бе́гать, мы́шка.
🗣️ Глаго́лы дня · Verbs of the day: бежа́ть – я бегу́, ты бежи́шь ➡️ · бе́гать – я бе́гаю 🔄
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Your homework from День 11: how do you go – every day, and today?
«Ка́ждый день я е́зжу на авто́бусе. 🔄 Сего́дня я иду́ пешко́м. ➡️»
You remembered it – that is your first win today. ✅
- Tap and listen – you know it from «Ку́рочка Ря́ба» (Курс 2): мы́шка бежа́ла, хво́стиком махну́ла.
- Run on the spot: forward, fast ➡️ «бегу́!» – round and round 🔄 «бе́гаю!»
Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. Tap a word or its picture – the dictionary opens.
👂 Listen first. Run on the spot: ➡️ on «бежи́т», a circle 🔄 on «бе́гает».
- Ната́ша: Мы́шка бежи́т! Сли́нки бежи́т! ➡️ 🐭💨
- Ната́ша: Сли́нки лю́бит бе́гать. Ка́ждое у́тро она́ бе́гает по ко́мнате. 🔄 –
Сли́нки: Мя́у! 😺
- Ри́чард: А я бе́гаю в па́рке ка́ждое у́тро. 🔄 Сейча́с я бегу́ в парк! ➡️ 📒
Ска́ффлз: (chasing the mouse in one straight line) Я бе́гаю за мы́шкой!
- Ната́ша: Сейча́с ты бежи́шь! ➡️ Ты бежи́шь за мы́шкой!
Ска́ффлз: Я бегу́… бегу́… уф! Я лежу́. 😹
🌱 The seed of the day: the same question as День 10 – ➡️ one way, now → бежа́ть · 🔄 often, round and round → бе́гать. And a surprise: я бегу́, они́ бегу́т (Г) – but ты бежи́шь, он бежи́т (Ж).
Say every line aloud and run on the spot. 🏃
Я бегу́. ➡️ Ты бежи́шь. Он бежи́т.
Мы бежи́м. Вы бежи́те. Они́ бегу́т.
Ка́ждое у́тро я бе́гаю в па́рке. 🔄
Мы́шка бежа́ла, хво́стиком махну́ла! 🐭
- Run on the spot: «Я бегу́!» ➡️ Then a little circle: «Я бе́гаю!» 🔄
- Do you run? «Я бе́гаю в па́рке.» – or «Я не бе́гаю. Я хожу́.» 😄
- Throw a ball for a cat or a dog: «Беги́!» – run!
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. ➡️ one way, now – or 🔄 often, round and round? 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
мы́шка has Ы. Say «и», then pull your tongue back – as if you are pushed in the tummy: ы! 😮
- Say и – ы – и – ы. Then мы – мы́шка.
- Ы never starts a word. It comes after hard sounds: мы, ты, вы, сыр.
- 30 seconds, every day. This is aerobics for the tongue.
Tomorrow morning, run a few steps (or just move your arms like running) and say:
«Я бегу́! ➡️ Ка́ждое у́тро я бе́гаю.» 🔄 – or, if it is not true: «Я не бе́гаю – я хожу́!» 😄
That is the first minute of День 13. You already know it – so День 13 starts with a win.
- Cat and mouse. One person is the mouse, one is the cat. The mouse runs: «Я бегу́!» – the cat runs after it: «Я бегу́ за мы́шкой!» – the others shout «Беги́! Беги́!» 🐭🐈
- ➡️ or 🔄? Run in a straight line – the others say «бежи́т!». Run in a circle – «бе́гает!».
- Г or Ж? Point and say: 👆 бегу́ (Г) · 🫳 бежи́шь (Ж) · 👉 бежи́т · 🙌 бегу́т (Г) – clap on every Г!
Run after two hares – and you catch neither.
Do one thing at a time. Like this course: one verb a day! 🐇🐇 🤸 Gesture: run after one hand… then the other… and catch nothing!
мы́шка – мышь + -к-: a little mouse, a dear mouse (the suffixes come on День 25) 🐭
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Мы́шка бежи́т! Сли́нки бежи́т! – Сли́нки лю́бит бе́гать. Ка́ждое у́тро она́ бе́гает по ко́мнате. – Мя́у! – А я бе́гаю в па́рке ка́ждое у́тро. Сейча́с я бегу́ в парк! – Я бе́гаю за мы́шкой! – Сейча́с ты бежи́шь! Ты бежи́шь за мы́шкой! – Я бегу́… бегу́… уф! Я лежу́.
The mouse is running! Slinky is running! – Slinky loves running. Every morning she runs round the room. – Miaow! – And I run in the park every morning. Now I'm running to the park! – I «run about» after the mouse! (Scuffles's mistake: she runs one way, now) – Now you «бежи́шь»! You are running after the mouse! – I'm running… running… phew! I'm lying down.
- бежа́ть ➡️ – one way, now · бе́гать 🔄 – often, round and round
- бежа́ть: я бегу́, ты бежи́шь, он бежи́т, мы бежи́м, вы бежи́те, они́ бегу́т (Г – Ж – Г!) · бежа́л, бежа́ла · Беги́!
- бе́гать: я бе́гаю, ты бе́гаешь… – the easy -ешь family · бе́гал
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
«Мы́шка бежа́ла, хво́стиком махну́ла» – one of the first lines every Russian child knows (Курс 2, День 28). Now you know why it is бежа́ла and not бе́гала: the mouse ran one way, past the egg – ➡️. 🐭🥚
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- A chunk becomes a system. «мы́шка бежа́ла» was heard in Курс 2; today its verb gets its pair and its logic.
- The third pair, the same question. ➡️ / 🔄 is asked again – the pattern gets stronger with every pair (Ellis 2002, frequency and patterns).
- Run, don't read. Running on the spot in a line or a circle makes the two verbs two movements: Macedonia · Knösche 2011.
- The cat makes the mistakes. Scuffles «runs about» in a straight line – and ends up lying down. The student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
