День 28 из 40: Вход и вы́ход
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 4 – ход, вход, вы́ход, перехо́д. (And the word ко́рень – a root.)
🗣️ Ко́рень дня · Root of the day: ход – going: ход · вход · вы́ход · перехо́д · ходи́ть
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Your homework from День 27: you looked for ВХОД and ВЫ́ХОД on doors 🚪 – both have ход in the middle. And the aerobics: «рука́ – ру́чка, нога́ – но́жка, нос – но́сик» 🤸
You remembered it – that is your first win today. ✅
- Tap and listen. Hands down like roots on «ко́рень», arms up like branches on the words. 🌳
- The root (ко́рень) is the heart of the word. All the words of one family have the same root.
Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. Tap a picture – the dictionary opens.
👂 Listen first. Hands down for the root, arms up for the words that grow from it. 🌳
- Ната́ша: Ко́рень – как у де́рева. Из него́ расту́т все слова́: вход, вы́ход, перехо́д… 🌳
- Ната́ша: Вот вход. 🟩 А вот вы́ход. 🟥
- Ри́чард: Где перехо́д? – Вот перехо́д! 🚸 📒
Ска́ффлз: (in the kitchen doorway, pointing at ВХОД) Э́то вы́ход!
- Ната́ша: Нет, Ска́ффлз! Здесь напи́сано ВХОД.
Ска́ффлз: (thinking) Но вход в ку́хню – э́то вы́ход из ко́мнаты!
- Ната́ша: …Молоде́ц, Ска́ффлз! 😹 –
Сли́нки: Мя́у.
★ The root – 30 seconds.
- The root (ко́рень) is the main part of a word – the meaning lives there: ход = going.
- Everything else grows on it: a prefix in front (в-, вы-, пере-), a suffix and an ending at the back.
- Words with the same root are a family: ход – вход – вы́ход – перехо́д – ходи́ть – пешехо́д.
- Sometimes the root changes a sound: ход / хож-у́, рук-а́ / руч-ка (День 27) – still the same root.
Find the root – and you understand a word you have never seen! 🔍
Say every line aloud: roots down, branches up. 🌳
Ход. Вход. Вы́ход. Перехо́д. 🌳
Ко́рень – ход.
Вот вход. А вот вы́ход. 🟩🟥
Вход в ку́хню – э́то вы́ход из ко́мнаты! 😹
- Find the root: вход → ход · учи́тельница → уч · ру́чка → руч / рук.
- Draw a tree: write ход on the roots and the words you know on the branches. 🌳
- At a door: «Где вход? Где вы́ход?»
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. Find the root! 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
ход – Х is breathed from the back of the throat, like Scottish loch or German Bach. Not English h! 😮💨
- Say: х-х-х – as if you warm your hands in winter.
- Then: ход – вход – вы́ход – перехо́д.
- 30 seconds, every day. This is aerobics for the tongue.
Tomorrow, read something short – a sign, a label, a line of a book – and say: «Я чита́ю!» 📖 Tomorrow's words all have the root чит / чт. And once: «Вот вход, а вот вы́ход.»
That is the first minute of День 29. You already know it – so День 29 starts with a win.
You may stop here – see you tomorrow: День 29 · Чита́ть, чита́тель, чте́ние ▶
- The tree. One person is the tree trunk, arms up. The others are branches: each says a word with ход and holds the «trunk's» hand: «вход!» «вы́ход!» «перехо́д!» «ходи́ть!» «пешехо́д!» 🌳
- Same root or not? The leader says two words – the others say «да!» or «нет!»: «вход – вы́ход» (да) · «ход – хоте́ть» (нет) · «рука́ – ру́чка» (да) · «кот – ко́шка» (да)!
- Signs at home. Put up the ВХОД / ВЫ́ХОД papers of День 18 again and walk in and out. 🚪
There is a way out of every situation.
Never give up – there is always a way out! 💡 «вы́ход» – today's word: вы- + ход. 🤸 Gesture: hands in a box… then one hand finds the way out!
Read every line aloud, slowly. Every word is one you know. Tap a word to check. ✋
The same root in verbs: ходи́ть · входи́ть · выходи́ть…
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Ко́рень – как у де́рева. Из него́ расту́т все слова́: вход, вы́ход, перехо́д… Вот вход. А вот вы́ход. – Где перехо́д? – Вот перехо́д! – Э́то вы́ход! – Нет, Ска́ффлз! Здесь напи́сано ВХОД. – Но вход в ку́хню – э́то вы́ход из ко́мнаты! – …Молоде́ц, Ска́ффлз! – Мя́у.
A root is like the root of a tree. All the words grow from it: way in, way out, crossing… Here is the way in. And here is the way out. – Where is the crossing? – Here is the crossing! – This is the way out! (Scuffles's mistake) – No, Scuffles! It says ВХОД – way in. – But the way into the kitchen is the way out of the room! – …Well done, Scuffles! – Miaow.
- ★ ко́рень (root) – the main part, the meaning: ход = going
- a family = words with the same root: ход, вход, вы́ход, перехо́д, ходи́ть, пешехо́д
- the root can change a sound: ход / хож-у́ · рук-а́ / руч-ка
- word = (prefix) + root + (suffix) + (ending) – День 31
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English has roots too: port in import, export, transport. Russian ход works the same way: вход (in), вы́ход (out), перехо́д (across). And Russian ex-it = вы́-ход: the same idea – «go out»! 🚪
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- Rule after examples. вход and вы́ход were met on День 18, ход on День 10 – today the student sees that they are one family.
- A picture for the idea. The tree – roots, trunk, branches – gives the abstract word «root» a body.
- Reading new words. Knowing roots lets learners guess words they never studied – one of the best tools for a growing vocabulary (Nation 2013, word parts).
- The cat gets clever. Scuffles makes a mistake – and then says something true: «вход в ку́хню – э́то вы́ход из ко́мнаты!» 😹
