- ВПЕРЁД – В before П sounds like Ф, and the last Д like Т: «фпирёт». And Ё always has the stress!

- Наоборо́т. · The opposite. The teacher says «Вверх!» – the class does вниз; «Вперёд!» – наза́д. Who does the same as the teacher is out. 😄
- Мину́та без часо́в. One gives commands for exactly one minute, without a clock – the others count the seconds. Who is closest to 60? ⏱
- По о́череди. Everyone gives one command and adds one more: «Вста́ньте!» – «Вста́ньте! Ру́ки вверх!» – «Вста́ньте! Ру́ки вверх! На одно́й ноге́!»…
Remembering a word with the whole body works better than reading it again.
A minute saves an hour.
Two minutes of warm-up save a whole hour of a sleepy lesson. 🤸 Gesture: tap your wrist (a minute) – then draw a big circle (an hour).

- At the end of a word: З sounds like С (вниз), Д like Т (наза́д).
ударе́ние – stress – shows the syllable you say louder and longer, just like in English: LUN-dun (London), TEL-ih-fohn (telephone).
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English has one «two». Russian has two «twos»: два and две – it depends on the word: два часа́, but две мину́ты. And a workout is a трениро́вка – from the English «train»! 😄
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- Short movement breaks. A few minutes of movement in class helped pupils pay attention afterwards: Mahar et al. 2006.
- Little and often. Practice spread over many short sessions beats the same time in one long session: Cepeda et al. 2006.
- Start with a win. Remembering yesterday without looking is one of the best-proven tools: Agarwal · Nunes · Blunt 2021.
- The cat makes the mistake. Scuffles says «два мину́ты» – the student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
