-ся stays as -сь: сади́ться → сади́тесь. встава́ть has no -ся → вста́ньте.

- Бу́дьте учи́телем! · Be the teacher – to your family, your cat or a chair: «Вста́ньте! Сади́тесь! Дава́йте!» – with the gestures.
- Then the polite «let's»: «Дава́йте вста́нем! Дава́йте ся́дем!»
- To one person you know well: «Встань! Сядь! Дава́й!»
- Говори́ть – не обяза́тельно. · Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.

ВСТА́НЬТЕ – В, С, Т together, no vowel between them.
- Say it slowly: в-с-та́нь-те – then fast: вста́ньте! The В sounds like «ф» before С: «фста́нь-те».
- Ь makes Н soft: «вста́нь-те». And «сади́тесь» sounds «сади́тись» – Е without stress is a short «и».
- Clap on the loud syllable: ВСТА́НЬ-те 👏 · да-ВА́Й-те 👏 · са-ДИ́-тесь 👏. 30 секу́нд ка́ждый день – э́то аэро́бика для языка́. · 30 seconds every day – aerobics for the tongue.
За́втра у́тром бу́дьте учи́телем одну́ мину́ту. · Tomorrow morning, be the teacher for one minute: say to someone at home – or to your cat – «Вста́ньте! Дава́йте! Сади́тесь!» with the gestures.

- Учи́тель и класс. One is the teacher, the others are the class: «Вста́ньте!» 🙌 «Сади́тесь!» ⬇️ «Вста́ньте!»… faster and faster. Who sits when the teacher says «Вста́ньте!» – becomes the teacher! 😄
- «Ната́ша говори́т…» Do it only when the teacher begins with «Ната́ша говори́т»: «Ната́ша говори́т: вста́ньте!» – yes 🙌. «Сади́тесь!» – no, stay standing! 😄
- Дава́йте! Say what we do together – and do it: «Дава́йте вста́нем! Дава́йте ся́дем! Дава́йте посмеёмся!» 😂
Remembering a word with the whole body works better than reading it again.
The beginning is the hardest part.
People say it before something new and big: the first step is hard – after it, things go. «лихо́й» – an old word: bad, hard. Курс 5 is new – but you have already made the first step. 🤸 Gesture: one big step forward – then walk easily.
Natasha's method on one page: seven workouts (hands, feet, fingers) and a conversation «Заче́м аэро́бика?» – a student who wants to «sit down and study», and Natasha, who makes him stand up. Read the conversation today; you do the workouts in Group 2 (День 9–16). · Прочита́йте разгово́р сего́дня – упражне́ния бу́дут во второ́й гру́ппе.
- Начни́те уро́к стоя́. · Start the lesson standing. The first word is a command: «Вста́ньте!» – nobody falls asleep standing up.
- Говори́те «Дава́йте!» пе́ред ка́ждым упражне́нием. · Say «Дава́йте!» before every exercise. It means «we do it together» – the teacher moves too.
- Use вы for the class – it is polite and it is plural. ты only for one friend (or one cat).

- Вста́ньте! Сади́тесь! – a command to «вы»: -йте / -ите. · Кома́нды на «вы».
- -ся verbs keep it as -сь: сади́ться → сади́тесь. встава́ть has no -ся → вста́ньте.
- Дава́йте + infinitive: Дава́йте чита́ть! · Дава́йте + мы-form: Дава́йте вста́нем!
- One friend, one cat: встань, сядь, дава́й.
ударе́ние – stress – shows the syllable you say louder and longer, just like in English: LUN-dun (London), TEL-ih-fohn (telephone).
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English says «Let's…» – Russian says «Дава́йте…», from дава́ть, «to give»: you give the others a chance to do it with you. And «Stand up!» is one Russian word: вста́ньте. In Курс 5 you learn the language of the teacher. 😄
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- The body first. Students who answer commands with their body (Total Physical Response) understand and remember them better – Asher 1969. Natasha built her aerobics on the Berlitz direct method, where she taught.
- Words and movement together. A gesture done while saying a word helps the word stay: Macedonia · Knösche 2011.
- A win in the first minute. Course 5 starts with Course 4's homework – remembering without looking is one of the best-proven tools: Agarwal · Nunes · Blunt 2021.
- The cat makes the mistakes. Scuffles says «вста́ньтесь» – the student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
