День 22 из 24: Перево́дим наш уро́к
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 3 – англи́йский, родно́й, коро́ткий.
🗣️ Глаго́л дня · Verb of the day: переводи́ть – я перевожу́ (Д → Ж) → Я перевожу́ с ру́сского на англи́йский. · I translate from Russian into English.
⏱ Часть 1 = 15 мину́т – её конча́ют все. Часть 2 – е́сли хоти́те. · Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ Все дни · All days
Вста́ньте! Дома́шняя рабо́та из Дня 21: · your homework from День 21: say your proverb and your riddle – the others guess! 🦉🧩 «Я загада́ю зага́дку…» – «Вы отгада́ли!»
Вы э́то уже́ уме́ете – э́то ва́ша пе́рвая побе́да сего́дня. ✅ · You can already do it – your first win today.
- Не чита́йте пока́ – слу́шайте. · Don’t read yet – listen. From which language into which? ➡️🌍
- Hear the endings: с ру́сского – на англи́йский.
Скажи́те ка́ждое сло́во вслух и покажи́те его́. · Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under it. Tap a word – listen.
Родно́й язы́к – your own language, the one you spoke as a child. ❤️
👂 Снача́ла слу́шайте. · Listen first. Move a pen from your left hand to your right on every «перевожу́»: ➡️
How to translate a lesson – 30 seconds
- Russian stays – only the grey line beside it changes into your language.
- The meaning, not word for word (Курс 4, День 37).
- Short and plain – don’t polish, don’t rhyme: the line is only there so the student understands.
- The cat’s mistake – explain it in your language, or write a new one that your students make.
★ С како́го? На како́й? · From which? Into which?
с ру́сского → на англи́йский · с англи́йского → на ру́сский · с неме́цкого → на испа́нский
с + -ого = from · на + -ий = into.
🌱 The seed of the day: a lesson can travel – Russian stays, the line beside it changes into your language. And the translator’s grammar: с ру́сского на англи́йский.
Скажи́те ка́ждую строку́ вслух – и сде́лайте. · Say every line aloud – and do it.
Я перевожу́ уро́к. ➡️

С англи́йского на ру́сский. 🇬🇧➡️🇷🇺
Мой родно́й язы́к – … ❤️ (say yours!)
Кра́ткость – сестра́ тала́нта! 🤏
- Бу́дьте учи́телем! · Be the teacher – say: «Я перевожу́ с ру́сского на…» – and your language.
- Ask: «Како́й ваш родно́й язы́к?» – «Мой родно́й язы́к – …» ❤️
- Translate one line of today’s «Скажи́те» into your language – short and plain. 🤏
- Говори́ть – не обяза́тельно. · Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Мо́жете без ви́део? · Can you do it without the video? – Молоде́ц! ✔
Угада́йте – пото́м нажми́те. · Guess, then tap. A wrong tap is not a mistake – it is a guess. 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! · Two small things left – two minutes.
- РУ́ССКОГО – the Г in -ого sounds like В: «РУ́С-ка-ва».
- The same in его́ «йиво́» and сего́дня «сиво́дня» – you know them!
- АНГЛИ́ЙСКИЙ – the loud syllable is ГЛИ́Й: ан-ГЛИ́Й-ский 👏. 30 секу́нд ка́ждый день. · 30 seconds every day.
Переведи́те «Скажи́те» одного́ дня Ку́рса 5 на ваш язы́к – пять строк. ✍️🌍 · Translate the five «Say it» lines of one Курс 5 day into your language – short and plain.
Э́то пе́рвая мину́та Дня 23. · That is the first minute of День 23 – so it starts with a win.
Мо́жно зако́нчить здесь – до за́втра! · You may stop here – see you tomorrow: День 23 · Ваш уро́к на WikiTranslate ▶
- С како́го – на како́й? One names two languages: «ру́сский – англи́йский!» – the others say: «С ру́сского на англи́йский!» Then the other way round. 🔁
- Перево́дчик. One says a short Russian line; the next says it in their language; the third says it back in Russian – is it still the same? 😄
- По-коша́чьи. «Translate» a line into cat: «Где сыр?» – «Мя́у-мя́у?» – with the same music ↗. 🐈
Remembering a word with the whole body works better than reading it again.
Brevity is the sister of talent.
Not a folk proverb: Anton Chekhov wrote it in a letter in 1889 – and today every Russian knows it. The line beside the Russian in a lesson should be short: only so the student understands. 🤸 Gesture: thumb and finger close together 🤏 – then a big smile.
The meaning, not the words – false friends – «переводи́ть с … на …». You learned it in Курс 4; now you use it for your own lesson. · Тепе́рь – для ва́шего уро́ка.
- Ру́сский остаётся. · Russian stays. Change only the grey line beside it – the student still hears and reads Russian.
- Смысл, а не слова́. · The meaning, not the words. «Не сра́зу Москва́ стро́илась» = Rome wasn’t built in a day.
- Оши́бка – ва́шего языка́. · The mistake belongs to your language. Translate the story – then give the cat a mistake your students make.
- 🌍 На ва́шем языке́: translate today’s «Скажи́те» – five lines. Is your line longer than the Russian one? Make it shorter. 🤏
Прочита́йте ка́ждую строку́ вслух, ме́дленно. · Read every line aloud, slowly. Tap a word to check. ✋
🌍 Today's words: АНГЛИ́ЙСКИЙ · РОДНО́Й · КОРО́ТКИЙ
Я перевожу́ уро́к с ру́сского на англи́йский.
Мой родно́й язы́к – …
Ска́ффлз: «С ру́сский на коша́чий!» – Нет, с ру́сского! 😼
Перево́д до́лжен быть коро́ткий и просто́й.
Кра́ткость – сестра́ тала́нта. 🤏
род – a family, a kin · родно́й – own, native · ро́дина – the homeland · роди́тели – parents
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Scuffles, today we translate our lesson. Russian on the left, your language beside it. – I translate «с ру́сский» into cat! Miaow-miaow! (Scuffles’s mistake) – «С ру́сского», Scuffles – from Russian. From which? – From Russian. Into which? – Into cat. – And if the cat makes a mistake in Russian? How do you translate a mistake? – We don’t translate the mistake – we write a new one: a mistake of your language! – Miaow! – In cat that means «I understood everything».
- переводи́ть с + -ого на + -ий: с ру́сского на англи́йский.
- переводи́ть: я перевожу́ – Д → Ж, like ходи́ть – хожу́.
- родно́й язы́к – your own language.
- A lesson translation: short, plain, the meaning – and a new cat’s mistake.
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English: from Russian into English – two little words, no endings. Russian: с ру́сского на англи́йский – little words and endings. No wonder Scuffles forgot one! 😼 And in Russian, languages are written with a small letter: англи́йский, ру́сский.
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- Your first language helps. What you know in one language helps in the next – Cummins 1979, interdependence.
- Translation as a learning task. Translating a real text makes learners notice where the two languages differ – Cook 2010, Translation in Language Teaching.
- Short is easier. Working memory holds only a few new things at once – Cowan 2001.
- The cat makes the mistake. Scuffles says «с ру́сский» – the student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
