День 5 из 32: Кто танцу́ет?
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 2 – танцева́ть, рисова́ть.
🗣️ Глаго́л дня · Verb of the day: танцева́ть – я танцу́ю, ты танцу́ешь, он танцу́ет… -ева- / -ова- → -у-
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Your homework from День 4. Six fingers: я зна́ю, ты зна́ешь, он зна́ет, мы зна́ем, вы зна́ете, они́ зна́ют. 🖐️☝️ Then ask: «Ты зна́ешь?»
You know it – that is your first win today. Today: two verbs that play a little trick.
- Don't read anything yet. Listen: who dances? Who draws? What does she draw? 👂
- Listen: the word is танцева́ть, but Richard says танцу́ю. Where is the «-ева-»? 🤔
Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. Tap a word or its picture – the dictionary opens. 🔊 = listen.
The trick: in «я, ты, он…» the -ева- / -ова- turns into -у-: танцева́ть → танцу́ю · рисова́ть → рису́ю. The ends are the ones you know: -ю -ешь -ет -ем -ете -ют. 😌
👂 Listen first. Dance a step on every -у́-. 💃
(she looks at the drawing) – Ната́ша: Да, Сли́нки, э́то ты! 🐈
- Ри́чард: Мы танцу́ем, Ната́ша рису́ет, а ко́шки? – Ната́ша: Они́ ничего́ не де́лают! 😴
🌱 The seed of the day: -ова- / -ева- → -у- – many Russian verbs do this. Hear it, dance it. You will meet more: рису́ю, танцу́ю…
Say every line aloud, with the gestures. A dance step on every -у́-!
Кто танцу́ет? 💃 – Ри́чард танцу́ет!
Я танцу́ю. Ты танцу́ешь. Мы танцу́ем!
Я рису́ю. ✏️ Ты рису́ешь. Она́ рису́ет ко́шку.
Вы танцу́ете? – Нет, я рису́ю.
Они́ ничего́ не де́лают! 😴
- Put on some music and dance a step: «Я танцу́ю!» 💃
- Draw a cat on paper: «Я рису́ю ко́шку.» ✏️🐈
- Ask someone: «Ты танцу́ешь?» – or the screen: «Вы рису́ете?»
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. A wrong tap is not a mistake – it is a guess. 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
Ц = т + с in one short sound, like ts in cats. 🐈🐈
- т-с → ц – ца – цу – танцу́ю.
- Ц is always hard: even before Е and И it stays ц – танцева́ть sounds «танцыва́ть».
- 30 seconds, every day. This is aerobics for the tongue.
Tomorrow, draw something small – a cat, a fish, a house – and say: «Я рису́ю ко́шку.» ✏️ Then one dance step: «Я танцу́ю!» 💃
That is the first minute of День 6. You already know it – so День 6 starts with a win.
- Freeze dance. Music on – dance: «Я танцу́ю!» Music off – freeze and draw a circle in the air: «Я рису́ю!» 💃✏️
- Who? Point and say: 👉 «Он танцу́ет!» · ⭕ «Мы танцу́ем!» · 🙌 «Они́ рису́ют!» · 🫳 «Ты рису́ешь!»
- Old verbs come back. Mix in: 📖 чита́ю · 💻 рабо́таю · 🤔 зна́ю · 🤲 де́лаю.
When you move, you can't fall asleep – and the words stay. 😄
Who is dancing? – today's title: who dances, who sings, who reads? Point and answer.
Tap the title – the page opens; the bar at its top brings you back here.
Let's draw! – Natasha draws, you draw with her: рису́ю, рису́ем.
Tap the title – the page opens; the bar at its top brings you back here.
The work is afraid of the master. – In good hands the work goes fast and well.
де́ло – from де́лать (День 2). Say it when someone draws, cooks or fixes something beautifully. 🤸 Gesture: draw a quick perfect circle in the air, then a proud nod.
Read every line aloud, slowly. Every word is one you know. Tap a word to check. ✋
🙌 Today's words: ТАНЦУ́ЕТ · ТАНЦУ́Ю · РИСУ́ЕТ · РИСУ́Ю
Кто танцу́ет? Ри́чард танцу́ет.
Ната́ша рису́ет ко́шку. Э́то Сли́нки!
Ска́ффлз, ты танцу́ешь? – Да! Я танцу́ю!
Мы танцу́ем, а ко́шки ничего́ не де́лают. 😴
рисова́ть – to draw · рису́нок – a drawing · рис (rice) – no, not family! 😄
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Who is dancing? – Richard is dancing! – Richard, what are you doing? – I am dancing! – And I am drawing. I am drawing a cat. – I'm dancing too! (Scuffles says it wrong) – No, Scuffles! Not «tantsovayu» – tantsuyu! – Grrr… I am dancing. – Miaow! – Yes, Slinky, it's you! – We dance, Natasha draws, and the cats? – They do nothing!
- Verbs in -овать / -евать: the -ова- / -ева- becomes -у-.
- рисова́ть → я рису́ю, ты рису́ешь, он рису́ет, мы рису́ем, вы рису́ете, они́ рису́ют.
- танцева́ть → танцу́ю, танцу́ешь…
- The ends are the same as День 4: -ю -ешь -ет -ем -ете -ют.
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
Many -овать verbs are English words in disguise: организова́ть (organise), реаги́ровать (react), фотографи́ровать (photograph) – and they all do the -у- trick: я фотографи́рую. 📷
та́нец came from German Tanz – the same word as English dance. 💃
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- One new thing. The ends are those of День 4; only the stem changes. One new item keeps working memory free (Sweller, cognitive load).
- A dance step on the loud syllable. A beat of the body on the stressed syllable helps adults pronounce new words. Studies with adults – Prieto's group, Barcelona.
- Move, speak, laugh. When students move, they can't fall asleep; when they laugh, the tension goes and they try (Pomerantz · Bell 2011).
- The cat makes the mistakes. Scuffles says «танцова́ю» – the mistake every learner makes. The student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
