  • Ната́ша: Я – учи́тельница. 👩‍🏫 Ри́чард – учи́тель и чита́тель. 📒📖
  • Ри́чард: Я люблю́ чте́ние. 📚
  • Ната́ша: Сли́нки – на́ша ки́сонька. Она́ сиди́т на подоко́ннике. 🪟 У неё ма́ленькие ла́пки и но́сик. 😺
  • Ска́ффлз: (jumping onto the table) А я? Я – ра́достный ко́тик!
  • Ната́ша: Ска́ффлз, ты – она́! Ты – ра́достная ки́сонька!
  • Ска́ффлз: Хорошо́. Я ра́достная ки́сонька… и ва́ша ра́дость! – Ната́ша: Пра́вда! ❤️

★ Повтори́м – suffixes and what they make. 30 seconds.

suffix makes examples
-ик, -к-, -оньк- small, dear ко́тик, ру́чка, ки́сонька (25, 27)
-тель, -ник / -ница a person, he / she учи́тель – учи́тельница, учени́к – учени́ца (26)
-атель · -ение a person · the action as a thing чита́тель · чте́ние (29)
-ость · -ный a thing · a describing word ра́дость · ра́достный (30)

The root (28) keeps the meaning; prefix + root + suffix + ending (31) = a word. Before -к-: к → ч, г → ж (27).

🔁 Повторя́йте · Repeat

Say the story aloud and clap the parts of the long words. 👏

Я – учи́тельница. Ри́чард – учи́тель и чита́тель. 👩‍🏫📒
Сли́нки – ки́сонька. Она́ сиди́т на подоко́ннике. 🪟
У неё ла́пки и но́сик. 🐾👃
Ска́ффлз – ра́достная ки́сонька и на́ша ра́дость! ❤️
👀 and the motto of the review days: Повторе́ние – мать уче́ния! 🔁

🗣️ Ва́ша о́чередь! · Your turn!
  • Tell about your family: «Мой брат – учи́тель. Моя́ ма́ма – чита́тельница…»
  • Call your pet or a toy in a dear way: «Ки́сонька! Ко́тик! Но́сик!» 🐈
  • Take one root and make three words: рук → рука́, ру́чка… · рад → ра́дость, ра́достный, ра́д.
  • Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.

Can you do it without the video? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.

✔ Прове́рьте себя́ · Check yourself

Guess, then tap. Find the suffix and what it makes. A wrong tap is a guess. 😊

1 🤏 A small, dear nose: нос → …

НО́СИК
НО́СКА
НО́СНЫЙ

2 👩‍🏫 She teaches:

УЧИ́ТЕЛЬ
УЧИ́ТЕЛЬНИЦА
УЧЕНИ́К

3 📚 The reading (a thing):

ЧИТА́ТЕЛЬ
ЧИТА́ТЬ
ЧТЕ́НИЕ

4 The root in «перехо́д»:

5 😾 Scuffles (a she-cat): «Я ра́достный ко́тик!» How is it right?

Я РА́ДОСТНАЯ КИ́СОНЬКА
Я РА́ДОСТЬ КО́ТИК
Я РА́ДОСТНЫЙ КОТЁНОК

Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.

🔊 Звук дня · Sound of the day: all the sounds of the week

A tongue twister with the sounds of День 25–31: soft К, К → Ч, Ц, the silent Т. 😄

  • Ки́са, ки́сонька и котёнок – ра́достные! – soft К, then К → Ч: рука́ – ру́чка.
  • Учени́ца чита́ет, учени́к счита́ет. – Ц and Ч, then «ра́досный» without Т.
  • Slowly first, then faster. 30 seconds, every day. This is aerobics for the tongue.
🏠 Дома́шняя рабо́та · Homework – one small thing

Tomorrow a new part begins: long sentences. Answer this question in Russian: «Почему́ вы у́чите ру́сский?» – start with «Потому́ что…» 💬 And tell the riddle (in Part 2) to someone at home.
That is the first minute of День 33. You already know most of it – so День 33 starts with a win.

✔ Часть 1 гото́ва! Part 1 done.
The fourth part of Курс 3 is done – word building. 🎉 Now you can see inside Russian words! See you tomorrow: День 33 · Почему́? – Потому́ что… ▶
Часть 2 · Е́сли хоти́те · +25 мину́тPart 2 – only if you want more. Nothing here is needed for tomorrow.

🤸 Жестова́я игра́ · Gesture game

«Из одного́ ко́рня» – a game for the whole family.

  1. Word families. The leader says a root – everybody calls out words with it: «ход!» – «вход! вы́ход! перехо́д! ходи́ть!» · «уч!» – «учи́тель! учени́к! учи́ть!» · «чит!» – «чита́ть! чита́тель! чте́ние!» The one who says the last word wins. 🌳
  2. Make it dear. The leader says a word – the next makes it small and dear: «кот!» – «ко́тик!» · «рука́!» – «ру́чка!» · «нога́!» – «но́жка!»
  3. Human LEGO. Four people stand as prefix, root, suffix, ending – and change places to build new words. 🧩
🦉 Посло́вица дня · proverb of the day · 👂 listen and read
Ко́рень уче́ния го́рек, да плод его́ сла́док.

The root of learning is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.
Learning is hard at first – then it is a joy. 🌳🍎 «ко́рень» – the word of День 28; «уче́ние» – the root уч of День 26. 🤸 Gesture: a bitter face on «го́рек»… a sweet smile on «сла́док».

📖 Чита́йте са́ми · Read alone – guess, then tap

Я – учи́тельница. Ри́чард – учи́тель и чита́тель. – Я люблю́ чте́ние. – Сли́нки – на́ша ки́сонька. Она́ сиди́т на подоко́ннике. У неё ма́ленькие ла́пки и но́сик. – А я? I'm a joyful «ко́тик» (he)! (Scuffles's mistake) – Scuffles, you are a «she»! You are a joyful pussycat! – All right. I'm a joyful pussycat… and your joy! – True! – Repetition is the mother of learning! Bye!

💡 Пра́вило · Rule
  • ★ Повтори́м – День 25–31:
  • -ик, -к-, -оньк- small, dear (25, 27) · к → ч, г → ж before -к-
  • -тель / -тельница, -ник / -ница people, he / she (26)
  • -атель person · -ение thing from a verb (29)
  • -ость thing · -ный describing word (30)
  • ко́рень – the heart of the word (28) · prefix + root + suffix + ending (31)
ударе́ние – словарь ударе́ние – stress – shows the syllable you say louder and longer, just like in English: LUN-dun (London), TEL-ih-fohn (telephone).

ЛО́НДОН – словарь ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – словарь ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.

The sign is only a help for learners. Russian books don't print it, and you don't write it.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
😄 Для тех, кто говори́т по-англи́йски · For English speakers

After this week you can understand words you never learned: учи́тельская (the teachers' room), ра́достно (joyfully), перехо́дный (transitional)… Find the root, then the parts – and guess! Russians do it too. 🔍💪

🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way

  • A review day with no new words. Words met again after a gap of a few days are remembered much better than words met many times in one go – Rogers · Nakata · Chiu 2025.
  • All the suffixes side by side. One table of what each suffix makes – easier to tell apart (Schmidt 1990, the noticing hypothesis).
  • Remember first, then check. Reading a week's words alone, then tapping to check, is retrieval practice – Agarwal · Nunes · Blunt 2021.
  • A riddle about word parts. «Бу́ква К» – the answer is inside the word. Guessing first helps the answer stay (Kornell, Hays · Bjork 2009, the pretesting effect).
  • The cat makes the mistakes. Scuffles is a «joyful ко́тик» – and in the end everybody's joy. The student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
