День 6 из 40: Ста́вим и ве́шаем
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 4 – ста́вить, поста́вить, ве́шать, пове́сить.
🗣️ Глаго́лы дня · Verbs of the day: ста́вить 〰️ → поста́вить ✅ → стоя́ть 📍 · ве́шать 〰️ → пове́сить ✅ → висе́ть 📍
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Your homework from День 5: put your phone on the table with the three:
«Я кладу́ телефо́н на стол… 〰️ Положи́л(а)! ✅ Телефо́н лежи́т на столе́. 📍»
You remembered it – that is your first win today. ✅
- Tap and listen. Then do it: stand a cup on the table ☕ – hang a coat on a hook 🧥.
- Yesterday the thing lay. Today it stands and it hangs – the three verbs of День 2 get their «put» verbs.
Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. Tap a word or its picture – the dictionary opens.
☕ Stand it up:
🧥 Hang it:
👂 Listen first. Do it with a cup and a coat: 〰️ – ✅ – 📍
- Ната́ша: Я ста́влю ча́шку на стол… 〰️ Поста́вила! ✅ Ча́шка стои́т на столе́. 📍 ☕
- Ри́чард: Я ве́шаю карти́ну на сте́ну… 〰️ Пове́сил! ✅ Карти́на виси́т на стене́. 📍 🖼️
Ска́ффлз: (holding a cup over the table) Я ве́шаю ча́шку на стол!
- Ната́ша: Нет, Ска́ффлз! На стол мы ча́шку ста́вим. Ве́шаем – на сте́ну!
Ска́ффлз: (she jumps and hangs from the edge of the table by her front paws) Тогда́ я… вишу́! 😹
Сли́нки: Мя́у! (Slinky sits under her and looks up)
🌱 The seed of the day: three «put» verbs – the thing decides: it will lie → класть · stand → ста́вить · hang → ве́шать. And the state is always one of День 1–2: лежи́т · стои́т · виси́т.
Say every line aloud and do it: 〰️ – ✅ – 📍
Я ста́влю ча́шку на стол. 〰️ Поста́вила! ✅ Ча́шка стои́т. 📍
Я ве́шаю пальто́. 〰️ Пове́сил! ✅ Пальто́ виси́т. 📍
Кни́гу – кладу́. Ча́шку – ста́влю. Пальто́ – ве́шаю. 📖☕🧥
Ска́ффлз виси́т! 😹
- Stand your cup on the table: «Я ста́влю ча́шку на стол… Поста́вил(а)! Ча́шка стои́т.»
- Hang your coat or bag: «Я ве́шаю пальто́… Пове́сил(а)! Пальто́ виси́т.»
- Put three things: a book, a cup, a coat – кладу́, ста́влю, ве́шаю. Which is which?
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. How will the thing be after you put it – lying, standing, hanging? 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
Ш in ве́шаю and ча́шка is always hard – like Ж of День 1, but without the voice: ш-ш-ш – the sea, or «be quiet!» 🤫
- Say: ш-ш-ш – then ж-ж-ж (the bee). The same tongue – only the voice is on or off.
- Then: ве́-ша-ю – ча́-шка – пове́-сил.
- 30 seconds, every day. This is aerobics for the tongue.
Tomorrow morning, stand your cup on the table and hang your coat – and say it:
«Я поста́вил(а) ча́шку. Ча́шка стои́т. Я пове́сил(а) пальто́. Пальто́ виси́т.»
That is the first minute of День 7. You already know it – so День 7 starts with a win.
- Orders, please! One person gives orders, the others do them: «Поста́вь ча́шку!» ☕ · «Положи́ кни́гу!» 📖 · «Пове́сь пальто́!» 🧥 – then for the whole family: «Поста́вьте! Положи́те! Пове́сьте!»
- Lie, stand or hang? Name a thing – the others say the «put» verb: «Таре́лка!» – «ста́вим!» · «Ключи́!» – «кладём!» · «Карти́на!» – «ве́шаем!»
- Be Scuffles. Hang from something safe (a door frame, a bar) for three seconds: «Я вишу́!» 😹
Remembering a word with the whole body works better than reading it again.
Don't hang your nose!
Cheer up! Don't be sad. «ве́шай» – today's verb, the command for «ты». 🤸 Gesture: hang your head down… then lift your chin and smile!
Read every line aloud, slowly. Every word is one you know. Tap a word to check. ✋
🙌 Today's words: СТА́ВИТЬ · ПОСТА́ВИТЬ · ВЕ́ШАТЬ · ПОВЕ́СИТЬ
Ната́ша поста́вила ча́шку на стол. Ча́шка стои́т.
Ри́чард пове́сил карти́ну на сте́ну. Карти́на виси́т.
Ска́ффлз не ве́шает ча́шку. Ска́ффлз виси́т сама́! 😹
Не ве́шайте нос! 😊
ве́шать, висе́ть – one root вес- / вис- / веш- · ве́шалка – a coat hanger 🧥 · вы́веска – a shop sign: it is hung out!
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Я ста́влю ча́шку на стол… Поста́вила! Ча́шка стои́т на столе́. – Я ве́шаю карти́ну на сте́ну… Пове́сил! Карти́на виси́т на стене́. – Я ве́шаю ча́шку на стол! – Нет, Ска́ффлз! На стол мы ча́шку ста́вим. Ве́шаем – на сте́ну! – Тогда́ я… вишу́! – Мя́у!
I am standing the cup on the table… I've put it! The cup is standing on the table. – I am hanging the picture on the wall… I've hung it! The picture is hanging on the wall. – I'm hanging the cup on the table! (Scuffles's mistake) – No, Scuffles! We stand a cup on the table. We hang things on the wall! – Then I'm… hanging! – Miaow!
- ☕ 〰️ ста́вить – ✅ поста́вить – 📍 стоя́ть · я ста́влю, ты ста́вишь… (в → вл only for «я») · Поста́вь!
- 🧥 〰️ ве́шать – ✅ пове́сить – 📍 висе́ть · я ве́шаю, ты ве́шаешь… · future я пове́шу, ты пове́сишь · Пове́сь!
- Three «put» verbs: it will lie → класть · stand → ста́вить · hang → ве́шать.
- Куда́? – на стол, на сте́ну · Где? – на столе́, на стене́.
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English: put the kettle on. Russian: «поста́вить ча́йник» – you «stand» the kettle! ☕ And when Russians invite you to stay: «Ве́шайте пальто́!» – hang up your coat. 🧥
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- A win in the first minute. Yesterday's three with the phone comes back as the warm-up.
- The pattern, again and again. Days 3–6: five threes with the same three gestures. The student no longer learns verbs one by one but sees one system (Ellis 2002, frequency and patterns).
- The thing decides. Instead of a rule, a question: «how will it be after you put it?» – the answer is the state of День 1–2.
- The cat makes the mistakes. Scuffles «hangs» a cup on the table – and then hangs herself from it. The student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
