День 18 из 40: Вхожу́ – выхожу́
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 5 – входи́ть, выходи́ть, дверь, вход, вы́ход. (Chunks: Войди́те! · Вы́йди!)
🗣️ Глаго́лы дня · Verbs of the day: в- + ходи́ть = входи́ть – я вхожу́ · вы- + ходи́ть = выходи́ть – я выхожу́
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Your homework from День 17: you went through a door – in and out. And the cups: «Я расста́вил(а) ча́шки.» ☕☕☕
You remembered it – that is your first win today. ✅
- Tap and listen. Go through a real door: step in – «вхожу́!» – step out – «выхожу́!»
- ходи́ть (День 10) + a prefix: в- = in, вы- = out.
Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. Tap a word or its picture – the dictionary opens.
👂 Listen first. Your hands: in on «в-», out on «вы-».
- (Тук-тук!) Ната́ша: Войди́те! 🚪
- Ри́чард: Я вхожу́. До́брый день! 📒
- Ната́ша: А я выхожу́. Я иду́ в магази́н. 🛍️
Ска́ффлз: (walking from the hall into the room) Я выхожу́ в ко́мнату!
- Ната́ша: Нет, Ска́ффлз! Ты вхо́дишь в ко́мнату. Выхо́дишь – из ко́мнаты!
Ска́ффлз: (turns round) Хорошо́. Я выхожу́ из ко́мнаты… на ку́хню! 😼 –
Сли́нки: Мя́у.
🌱 The seed of the day: в- goes with в + «where to»: вхожу́ в ко́мнату. вы- goes with из + «from where»: выхожу́ из ко́мнаты (-ы, like «нет ко́мнаты»). Отку́да? – из.
Say every line aloud and walk through a door.
Тук-тук! – Войди́те! 🚪
Я вхожу́ в ко́мнату. ➡️🚪
Я выхожу́ из ко́мнаты. 🚪➡️
ВХОД – ВЫ́ХОД. 🟩🟥
- Walk through a door: «Я вхожу́ в ку́хню.» – «Я выхожу́ из ку́хни.»
- Knock on a door and wait: «Тук-тук!» – someone says «Войди́те!» 😊
- Every morning: «Я выхожу́ из до́ма.» 🏠
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. In or out? 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
вход sounds «фход», вхожу́ sounds «фхажу́». Before a voiceless sound (х, к, т, с…) В loses its voice and becomes Ф. 🤫
- Say: ф-ф-ф – фход – фхажу́.
- But выход – В before a vowel stays В: «вы́-ход».
- 30 seconds, every day. This is aerobics for the tongue.
Tomorrow, when somebody comes home, say «Пришёл!» or «Пришла́!» – and when they go, «Ушёл!» or «Ушла́!» 👋 And say once: «Я выхожу́ из до́ма.»
That is the first minute of День 19. You already know it – so День 19 starts with a win.
- In – out. Stand in a doorway. «В-!» – step in, «вхожу́!». «Вы-!» – step out, «выхожу́!». Faster and faster. 🚪
- Тук-тук! One person knocks, the other says «Войди́те!» – the first comes in: «Я вошёл / вошла́!»
- Signs. Write ВХОД and ВЫ́ХОД on two papers and put them on the doors at home. 😄
A word is not a sparrow: once it flies out, you can't catch it.
Think before you speak. «вы́летит» – вы- + лете́ть (День 13): it flies out! 🐦 🤸 Gesture: open your mouth, a bird flies out of your hand… try to catch it – too late!
Read every line aloud, slowly. Every word is one you know. Tap a word to check. ✋
«Есть вы́ход!» – there is a way out (of a problem)! 💡 · вы́летит (the proverb) – вы- + лете́ть
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Тук-тук! – Войди́те! – Я вхожу́. До́брый день! – А я выхожу́. Я иду́ в магази́н. – Я выхожу́ в ко́мнату! – Нет, Ска́ффлз! Ты вхо́дишь в ко́мнату. Выхо́дишь – из ко́мнаты! – Хорошо́. Я выхожу́ из ко́мнаты… на ку́хню! – Мя́у.
Knock-knock! – Come in! – I'm coming in. Good afternoon! – And I'm going out. I'm going to the shop. – I'm going out into the room! (Scuffles's mistake) – No, Scuffles! You are going INTO the room. Out – out of the room! – All right. I'm going out of the room… to the kitchen! – Miaow.
- в- = in: входи́ть – я вхожу́, ты вхо́дишь… + в ко́мнату (where to?)
- вы- = out: выходи́ть – я выхожу́, ты выхо́дишь… + из ко́мнаты (from where? – отку́да?)
- Chunks: Войди́те! – come in! · Вы́йди! – go out! (the pf verbs войти́, вы́йти – День 22)
- Signs: ВХОД · ВЫ́ХОД
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
In the Moscow metro the signs say ВЫ́ХОД В ГО́РОД – «way out to the city». 🚇 And when you knock on a Russian door you hear: «Войди́те!» or just «Да-да!» 😄
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- A known verb + a new prefix. ходи́ть is from День 10; today only в- and вы- are new.
- Real-life words. ВХОД / ВЫ́ХОД are on every Russian door – the student will see them again and again outside the course.
- In and out with the body. Walking through a real door while saying the verb: Macedonia · Knösche 2011.
- The cat makes the mistakes. Scuffles «goes out» into the room. The student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
