Сли́нки стои́т на четырёх ла́пах и не дви́гается. Мя́у. 😺
- Ната́ша: Сли́нки – молоде́ц: она́ стои́т. А мы? Дава́йте: на одно́й ноге́! 🤸
★ Ударе́ние пры́гает · The stress jumps – 30 seconds
| the stress | it sounds | |
|---|---|---|
| one | нога́ | «нага́» – о sounds like а |
| many | но́ги | «но́ги» – a clear o |
| where? [●] | на ноге́ | «на наге́» |
Unstressed о sounds like а. Stressed о is a clear, long o. That is why we mark the stress: ´
🌱 The seed of the day: the stress moves – and the о changes. In Natasha's video you walk: every step is one syllable. The feet teach the stress.
Скажи́те ка́ждую строку́ вслух – и сде́лайте. · Say every line aloud – and do it.
Э́то моя́ пра́вая нога́, а э́то ле́вая. 🦶
Э́то мои́ но́ги. 👣
Я стою́ на ле́вой ноге́. Тепе́рь – на пра́вой! 🦩
С пра́вой ноги́ на ле́вую – я хожу́! 🚶
Во́лка но́ги ко́рмят! 🐺
- Walk around the room. Every step: нога́ – но́ги – нога́ – но́ги – clap on the stress! 👏
- Бу́дьте учи́телем! · Be the teacher: «Сто́йте! На одно́й ноге́! Ходи́те!» – to your family, or your cat. 😄
- Ask: «На како́й ноге́ вы стои́те?» – «На ле́вой!»
- Говори́ть – не обяза́тельно. · Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Мо́жете без ви́део? · Can you do it without the video? – Молоде́ц! ✔
Угада́йте – пото́м нажми́те. · Guess, then tap. A wrong tap is not a mistake – it is a guess. 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! · Two small things left – two minutes.
- НОГА́ – the о has no stress, so it sounds like а: «нага́». The same in хорошо́ – «харашо́». · О без ударе́ния звучи́т как А.
- НО́ГИ – now the о has the stress: a clear, long «о». Say both: нага́ – но́ги. 👂
- Ё always has the stress: всё, ёж, твоё. Clap: на-ГА́ 👏 · НО́-ги 👏. 30 секу́нд ка́ждый день. · 30 seconds every day.
За́втра у́тром посчита́йте па́льцы вслух: «Оди́н, два, три… де́сять!» ✋✋ И наде́ньте кольцо́ – и́ли рези́нку для воло́с – на па́лец. 💍 · Tomorrow morning, count your fingers aloud – and put a ring (or a hair tie) on one finger.
Э́то пе́рвая мину́та Дня 12. · That is the first minute of День 12 – so it starts with a win.
Мо́жно зако́нчить здесь – до за́втра! · You may stop here – see you tomorrow: День 12 · Па́льцы ▶
- Ходи́те – сто́йте! The teacher says «Ходи́те!» – everybody walks; «Сто́йте!» – everybody stops; «На одно́й ноге́!» – 🦩. Who moves at «Сто́йте!» becomes the teacher. 😄
- Ударе́ние нога́ми. Say a word and stamp on the stressed syllable: мо-ло-КО́ · МА́-ма · хо-ро-ШО́. 👣
- Носо́к – носки́. Put one sock on: «Нет носка́!» – then the other one: «Два носка́!» 🧦
Remembering a word with the whole body works better than reading it again.
The wolf is fed by its legs.
A wolf that sits still gets no food. Who moves, eats – and who walks and talks, learns. 🐺 Hear the stress: Во́лка, но́ги, ко́рмят – three clear о's! 🤸 Gesture: run on the spot.
Но́ги 1 – today's video and Natasha's talk about stress: «I presént you with a présent», why Russians care so much about stress – and why they forgive a foreigner. Но́ги 2 – stand, walk and get dressed: «Нет носка́!», «Помоги́ ей!». · Сего́дня – Но́ги 1. Но́ги 2 – когда́ хоти́те.
- Шаг – слог. · One step – one syllable. Walk while you say a word: the stamp falls on the stressed syllable.
- Пока́зывайте ударе́ние те́лом. · Show the stress with the body – a clap, a stamp, a fist on the palm (День 5). The body hears it before the eye sees it.
- Па́ры слов. · Pairs of words. ру́ки – руки́, за́мок – замо́к: the stress changes the meaning. A pair stays in the memory better than a rule.
- 🌍 На ва́шем языке́: find two words where the stress changes the meaning. English: a présent – to presént. German: úmfahren (knock down) – umfáhren (drive round). Italian: àncora (anchor) – ancóra (still).
Прочита́йте ка́ждую строку́ вслух, ме́дленно. · Read every line aloud, slowly. Tap a word to check. ✋
🦶 Today's words: НОГА́ · НОСО́К · СТОЯ́ТЬ · ХОДИ́ТЬ
Э́то моя́ нога́. Э́то мои́ но́ги.
Я стою́ на одно́й ноге́ – и не па́даю! 🦩
Ска́ффлз стои́т на одно́й ла́пе… и па́дает. 😹
Сли́нки стои́т на четырёх ла́пах. 🐾
Во́лка но́ги ко́рмят. 🐺
ходи́ть – to walk · вход – an entrance · вы́ход – an exit · пешехо́д – a pedestrian: he «goes on foot»
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Scuffles, today it's feet! – Slinky, stand on one «нога́»! (Scuffles's mistake) – On one foot: «на ноге́». Where? – on the foot. – And cats don't stand on feet – they stand on four paws! – All right: Slinky, stand on one paw! … Look – like this! … Oops! – Slinky stands on four paws and doesn't move. Miaow. – Slinky is clever: she just stands. And us? Let's go: on one foot!
- нога́ – the о sounds like а: «нага́». но́ги – a clear о.
- Where? на ноге́ [●] · From foot to foot: с ноги́ на но́гу ]→ →[
- Ё always has the stress.
- Commands: Сто́йте! Ходи́те! – to one friend: Стой! Ходи́!
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English has «leg» and «foot» – Russian one word: нога́. English shows meaning with long and short vowels (beet – bit); Russian with the place of the stress: ру́ки – руки́. But English moves the stress too – Natasha's example: «I presént you with a présent». 🎁
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- Move while you learn. Light exercise while learning new words helped people remember them better: Schmidt-Kassow et al. 2013.
- Stress with the body. A beat with the hand or foot on the stressed syllable helps learners hear it and say it: Gluhareva · Prieto 2017.
- Pairs, not rules. Two words that differ in only one thing make the difference stand out: Schmidt 1990, the noticing hypothesis.
- The cat makes the mistake. Scuffles says «на одно́й нога́» – and falls over. The student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
