День 15 из 40: Пошли́!
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 2 – пойти́, пое́хать. (Old friends: идти́, е́хать.)
🗣️ Глаго́лы дня · Verbs of the day: пойти́, пое́хать – ✅ pf: set off · past of идти́: `+H.g('шёл',H.he)+`, `+H.g('шла',H.she)+`, `+H.g('шли',H.they)+`
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Your homework from День 14: carry something and say who takes you:
«Я несу́ ча́шку. ➡️👜» – «Ри́чард / ма́ма / авто́бус везёт меня́ на рабо́ту.» 🚗
You remembered it – that is your first win today. ✅
- Tap and listen. Clap your hands, then a stamp of the fist on your palm – and step off: «Пошли́!» – let's go!
- Курс 2: «doing» 〰️ and «done» ✅. Today: a verb of motion becomes ✅ with по-: it means to set off.
Say every word aloud and show it. The gestures you know: 〰️ on the way · ✅ a stamp – set off!
👂 Listen first. Clap and stamp on «Пошли́!», walk on «идём».
- Ната́ша: Ри́чард, пойдём в парк! – Ри́чард: Пошли́! ✅ 👟
- Ната́ша: Мы идём в парк. ➡️ – 👈 Вчера́ Ри́чард шёл, а я шла… и пе́ла! 🎵
- Ри́чард: А тепе́рь – в маши́ну. Ну, пое́хали! 🚗 📒
Ска́ффлз: (lying on the sofa) Я пошла́ на ку́хню!
- Ната́ша: Ска́ффлз! «Пошла́» – зна́чит, ты уже́ идёшь. А ты лежи́шь!
Ска́ффлз: (getting up) Ну, хорошо́. Пошла́! 😼 –
Сли́нки: (already in the kitchen) Мя́у!
🌱 The seed of the day: по- + ➡️ = ✅ set off. пойти́, пое́хать, побежа́ть, полете́ть… And the past of идти́ has no -л-: шёл · шла · шли – like лёг (День 4).
Say every line aloud: clap and stamp on the ✅ words.
Пойдём в парк! – Пошли́! ✅
Я пошёл / пошла́. Мы пошли́. 👟
Ри́чард шёл, а я шла. 👈
Ну, пое́хали! 🚗
- Put on your shoes (or just stand up): «Пошли́!» ✅
- Tell what you did this morning: «У́тром я пошёл / пошла́ на ку́хню.»
- Invite someone: «Пойдём в парк!» – «Пое́хали в магази́н!»
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. ✅ set off – or ➡️ on the way? He, she or they? 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
шёл – after Ш (always hard, День 6) the letter Ё sounds like a plain О: «шол». The same in пошёл – «па-шол».
- Say: шо – шёл – пошёл. Hard and round, lips forward. 😗
- And шла – one syllable, very short: «шла!»
- 30 seconds, every day. This is aerobics for the tongue.
Tomorrow is a review day. Say where you went yesterday and how:
«Вчера́ я пошёл / пошла́ в магази́н. 🚶 – (or) Я пое́хал(а) на рабо́ту на авто́бусе. 🚌»
That is the first minute of День 16. You already know it – so День 16 starts with a win.
- Ready – steady – go! Everybody stands at the wall. «На старт!» – «Внима́ние!» – «Пошли́!» – everybody walks. With «Побежа́ли!» – everybody runs! 🏃
- He, she, they. Point at people walking out: «Он пошёл!» «Она́ пошла́!» «Они́ пошли́!»
- Пое́хали! Sit in a row like in a car or a rocket 🚀 – count «три, два, оди́н…» – «Пое́хали!»
The old folk song about Granny's little grey goat: one day the goat went to the forest for a walk… 🐐🌲 Listen for the motion verbs. The bar at its top brings you back here.
Lazy Emelya catches a magic pike – and then the buckets go home by themselves and the stove drives to the Tsar! 🐟🪣 A long tale – read a little every day. The bar at its top brings you back here.
Go there – I don't know where, bring that – I don't know what.
An impossible order from a Russian fairy tale – Russians say it when a task is not clear at all! 😄 «пойди́» – the command of пойти́. 🤸 Gesture: point one way… then the other… and shrug.
«Пое́хали!» – Yuri Gagarin's word when his rocket took off, 12 April 1961 🚀
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Ри́чард, пойдём в парк! – Пошли́! – Мы идём в парк. Вчера́ Ри́чард шёл, а я шла… и пе́ла! – А тепе́рь – в маши́ну. Ну, пое́хали! – Я пошла́ на ку́хню! – Ска́ффлз! «Пошла́» – зна́чит, ты уже́ идёшь. А ты лежи́шь! – Ну, хорошо́. Пошла́! – Мя́у!
Richard, let's go to the park! – Let's go! – We are walking to the park. Yesterday Richard was walking, and I was walking… and singing! – And now – into the car. Well, let's go! – I've set off to the kitchen! (Scuffles's mistake: she is still lying) – Scuffles! «Пошла́» means you are already going. And you are lying! – Well, all right. Off I go! – Miaow!
- по- + ➡️ = ✅ pf, «set off»: пойти́, пое́хать, побежа́ть, полете́ть, поплы́ть
- пойти́: future я пойду́, ты пойдёшь… · past пошёл, пошла́, пошли́
- пое́хать: я пое́ду… · пое́хал, пое́хала
- Past of идти́: шёл, шла, шли (no -л-!)
- «Let's go!» – Пойдём! Пошли́! (on foot) · Пое́хали! (by transport)
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
«Пое́хали!» – «Let's go!» – was the first word of a human in space: Yuri Gagarin said it when his rocket took off on 12 April 1961. 🚀 Russians still say it before every journey – and before every new job. So: Пое́хали! – on to the review day!
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- Aspect from Курс 2, now with motion. The ✅ stamp of Курс 2 is reused: по- + ➡️ = ✅. Nothing new to learn – only a known rule in a new place.
- One rule for all the pairs. пойти́, пое́хать, побежа́ть… – the student sees the pattern, not a list (Ellis 2002, frequency and patterns).
- Songs and tales. The goat song and the pike tale give the verbs in a story – words in a story are remembered better than words in a list (Nation 2013, Learning Vocabulary in Another Language).
- The cat makes the mistakes. Scuffles «has set off» – lying on the sofa. The student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
