День 3 из 40: Сади́тесь! – Се́ли – Сиди́м
📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 3 – сади́ться, сесть, сиде́ть.
🗣️ Глаго́лы дня · Verbs of the day: сади́ться 〰️ → сесть ✅ → сиде́ть 📍 – one movement, three verbs
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days
Your homework from День 2: three sentences about your room, one with each verb – with the hand: ✋ 🫳 🖐️⬇️
«Стул стои́т. Телефо́н лежи́т. Ла́мпа виси́т.»
You remembered it – that is your first win today. ✅
- Tap and listen. Then do it with a chair: go down slowly – land – don't move.
- «Сади́тесь!» is an old friend from Курс 1. Today it gets its two brothers.
Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. Tap a word or its picture – the dictionary opens.
👂 Listen first. Sit down on a chair with every line: 〰️ – ✅ – 📍
- Ната́ша: Ри́чард, сади́тесь! 🪑
- Ната́ша: Он сади́тся… 〰️ Сел! ✅ Тепе́рь он сиди́т. 📍 – Ри́чард: Я сижу́. 📒
Ска́ффлз: (jumping up at the other chair, still in the air) Я сижу́!
- Ната́ша: Нет, Ска́ффлз! Ты не сиди́шь – ты сади́шься! 〰️ … Вот – се́ла! ✅ Тепе́рь ты сиди́шь. 📍
Сли́нки: Мя́у. (she was sitting there all the time) 😺
★ Natasha's three – 30 seconds. One movement, three verbs:
- 〰️ motion · impf: Ри́чард сади́тся на стул. – he is going down
- ✅ result · pf: Ри́чард сел на стул. – done, he landed
- 📍 state · impf: Ри́чард сиди́т на сту́ле. – he is there, no movement
Look at the end of стул: moving – куда́? на стул · there – где? на сту́ле (-е, Курс 1).
Past of сесть: он сел · она́ се́ла · они́ се́ли – the endings of Курс 2.
💡 Natasha's logic: verbs of position come in threes – motion, result, state. Her whole table is in Part 2. Explanation: Natalia Brown, WikiTranslate.
🌱 The seed of the day: 〰️ – ✅ – 📍. You know «doing» and «done» from Курс 2. Now there is a third: being there.
Say every line aloud and do it: 〰️ go down – ✅ land – 📍 sit still.
Сади́тесь! 〰️ – Сел! ✅ – Сиди́т. 📍
Ри́чард сади́тся на стул. Ри́чард сел на стул. Ри́чард сиди́т на сту́ле.
Я сажу́сь… Я се́ла! (he: Я сел!) Я сижу́. 😊
Ска́ффлз, сади́сь! – Се́ла. Сижу́. 😾
- Stand up. Sit down slowly and say: «Я сажу́сь…» 〰️ – land: «Се́л(а)!» ✅ – don't move: «Я сижу́.» 📍
- Tell about someone at home: «Ма́ма се́ла. Тепе́рь она́ сиди́т.» – «Ко́шка сади́тся на дива́н.»
- Say it to your guest (or the cat): «Сади́тесь, пожа́луйста!»
- Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.
Can you say it without looking? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.
Guess, then tap. Ask yourself: 〰️ moving, ✅ landed, or 📍 already there? 😊
Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.
сади́тся and сади́ться sound the same: «сади́ца». Т + С melt into one sound – ц, like ts in cats. 🐈🐈
- Say: ц-ц-ц – then са-ди́-ца.
- But in сади́тесь a vowel stands between them – you hear «сади́-тесь». Only -тся / -ться melt.
- 30 seconds, every day. This is aerobics for the tongue.
Tomorrow morning, sit down on a chair with Natasha's three – and the gestures:
«Я сажу́сь… 〰️ – Я се́л(а)! ✅ – Я сижу́. 📍»
That is the first minute of День 4. You already know it – so День 4 starts with a win.
You may stop here – see you tomorrow: День 4 · Ложу́сь – лёг – лежу́ ▶
- Gesture → verb. Someone shows a gesture, you say the verb about Richard: 〰️ «сади́тся!» · ✅ «сел!» · 📍 «сиди́т!». Then about Natasha: «сади́тся – се́ла – сиди́т».
- Musical chairs, Russian style. Walk round the chairs. On «Сади́тесь!» everybody sits. The last one says the three: «Я сажу́сь – се́л(а) – сижу́!» 😄
- Slow motion. Sit down as slowly as you can and say «сади́тся…» the whole time. Land – «сел!»
Remembering a word with the whole body works better than reading it again.
Today you learned one three – its row is yellow. There are eight threes; you meet them all by День 7. Just look – don't learn the table now.
Don't sit in a sleigh that is not yours.
Don't take on a job or a place that is not for you. «сади́сь» – today's verb, the command for «ты». 🤸 Gesture: start to sit down 〰️… stop, shake your finger and stand up again!
Read every line aloud, slowly. Every word is one you know. Tap a word to check. ✋
сиде́нье – a seat · сад – a garden: where plants are «seated» (сажа́ть, День 7) 🌳
Just look and smile – you don't have to learn these now. 😊
Ри́чард, сади́тесь! – Он сади́тся… Сел! Тепе́рь он сиди́т. – Я сижу́. – Я сижу́! – Нет, Ска́ффлз! Ты не сиди́шь – ты сади́шься! Вот – се́ла! Тепе́рь ты сиди́шь. – Мя́у.
Richard, sit down! – He is sitting down… He sat down! Now he is sitting. – I am sitting. – I'm sitting! (Scuffles's mistake: she is still in the air) – No, Scuffles! You are not sitting – you are sitting down! There – she sat down! Now you are sitting. – Miaow.
- ★ Natasha's three: 〰️ сади́ться (impf, motion) – ✅ сесть (pf, result) – 📍 сиде́ть (impf, state).
- сади́ться: я сажу́сь, ты сади́шься, он сади́тся, мы сади́мся, вы сади́тесь, они́ садя́тся.
- сесть (pf – no «now»): сел, се́ла, се́ли · future я ся́ду, ты ся́дешь.
- Moving: куда́? на стул · there: где? на сту́ле.
- Commands: Сади́сь! Сади́тесь! (please, sit down)
ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
English uses one verb: sit down, sat down, is sitting. Russian uses three – one for the movement, one for the landing, one for being there. It looks like more work, but each verb is shorter and clearer: «Сел!» says it all. ✅
🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way
- The three from the body. The student moves (〰️), lands (✅) and stays still (📍) while saying the verb – movement and word are learned together: Macedonia · Knösche 2011.
- Built on what is known. «doing» and «done» (Курс 2, impf / pf) are already in the student's hands; the third verb – the state – was День 1. Today only joins them.
- A 30-second rule after the examples. The ★ box comes after the student has heard and done the three – rule after experience.
- Natasha's own logic. The table of the threes is Natalia Brown's explanation – English has no such system, so the three verbs are learned together.
- The cat makes the mistakes. Scuffles says «Я сижу́!» in the air. The student laughs – and remembers the difference.
