🤸 Аэро́бика ру́сского языка́ · День 33 из 37 · Day 33 of 37Все шаги́ ▸
Со стола́ – брысь!
Off the table – shoo!
⏱ 15 (+ 25 if you want more) min · 🎒 You need: a bag, a book, a pen, a hat and a ring (no ring? tie a ribbon round your finger) 👜📕🖊️🧢💍

📚 Слова́ дня · Words of the day: 4 – отку́да?, из, с (со), снима́ю – and ★ out → in: из су́мки → в су́мку · со стола́ → на стол · надева́ю → снима́ю.
🔤 Бу́квы дня · Letters of the day: none. You know all 33 letters. 🎉
⏱ Part 1 = 15 minutes – everybody finishes it. Part 2 = more, only if you want. · 🗺️ All days

📍 День 33 · the little words, day 1 of 4 · today: из and с – out of, off. You already know almost every word here – су́мка, кни́га, ру́чка, стол, кольцо́, па́лец, ры́бка, холоди́льник. And the ending is an old friend: «Кольца́ нет!» (День 29). Only four words are new.
· Это не первый день. Почти все слова вы уже знаете.
Часть 1 · Обяза́тельно · 15 мину́тPart 1 – everybody does this. 15 minutes.
🤸 Разми́нка · Warm-up (1 min)

Stand up! Yesterday's homework: take your ring (or ribbon) and do the six signs once – «Вот кольцо́! – Кладу́ кольцо́ на стол! – Кольца́ нет! – Иду́ с кольцо́м! – Кольцу́ ме́сто – на па́льце!» 💍
You remembered it – that is your first win today. Today things go the other way: out of the bag, off the table. And Scuffles is on the table again… 😾

👀👂 Смотри́те и слу́шайте · Watch and listen
ОТКУ́ДА? 👜➡️📕
  • Don't read anything yet. Listen: what comes out of the bag? 👜
  • Where does the ring fall from? And where does it fall to? 💍
  • Listen: в су́мку – the ring goes in · из су́мки – Slinky comes out. Do you hear the end? 👂
  • Tap the word above to hear it.
👋 Скажи́те и покажи́те · Say it and show it

Say every word aloud and show it – the gesture is under the picture. The movement falls on the loud syllable.

Tap the word to hear it. Tap the picture to open the word in the dictionary.

🙌 New today – four words, and you can read them:

  • отку́да? = where from? «Отку́да кни́га? – Из су́мки!» ❓ (День 15: куда́? – where to? Today: от-куда́ – from where.)
  • из = out of – the pair of в: в су́мку → из су́мки. 👜
  • с (and со before two hard sounds) = off, down from – the pair of на: на стол → со стола́, на па́лец → с па́льца. 🍽️
  • снима́ю = I take off – the pair of надева́ю (День 26): надева́ю кольцо́ → снима́ю кольцо́. 🧤

🐈 Ко́шки и се́мя дня · The cats and the seed of the day

👂 Listen first – then read it. You can read every word! Take your bag and a book. 👜📕

And you? Take a pen out of your bag: «Беру́ ру́чку из су́мки!» – put it on the table, then take it off again: «Беру́ ру́чку со стола́!» – aloud, or just in your head. Both count. 😊

★ Today's rule – 30 seconds. The ending is an old friend: «Кольца́ нет!» (День 29). And you heard «Кот у окна́» on День 4. Now – in → out:

  • в → из – into → out of: в су́мку → из су́мки · в холоди́льник → из холоди́льника
  • на → с – onto → off: на стол → со стола́ · на па́лец → с па́льца
  • After из and с – the «нет» ending: он, оно́ → -а (-я): стола́, па́льца, кольца́ · она́ → -ы, after к г х ж ш ч щ → -и: су́мки, по́лки, головы́
  • со = с + a little о, when the next word starts with two hard sounds: со стола́ (but с па́льца, с по́лки).

One little word – two jobs: с кольцо́м = with the ring (День 30) · с па́льца = off the finger (today). The ending tells you which! Scuffles says «со стол» – you know better now. 😄 (After из and с – роди́тельный паде́ж, genitive, the case of «нет кольца́». The name is for later.)

🔁 Повторя́йте · Repeat

Say the story aloud, with the actions. Then play: do the action – say the word. Mix them up!

👀 read it and say it – the proverb of the day: Без труда́ не вы́тащишь и ры́бку из пруда́! 🎣

🗣️ Ва́ша о́чередь! · Your turn!
  • Take three things out of your bag: «Беру́ кни́гу из су́мки! Беру́ ру́чку из су́мки!» 👜
  • Put them on the table – and take them off: «Беру́ кни́гу со стола́!» 📕
  • Your hat on – and off: «Надева́ю ша́пку! Снима́ю ша́пку!» 🧢 Your ring: «Снима́ю кольцо́ с па́льца!» 💍
  • Speaking is optional – listening and doing count too.

Can you do it without the video? – Молоде́ц! Go to the tap quiz.

Беру́ ру́чку В СУ́МКЕ.

Хорошо́! Молоде́ц! Two small things left – two minutes.

🔊 Звук дня · Sound of the day: the little word sticks to the next one

из, с, со are never alone – they stick to the next word:

  • с па́льца = «спа́льца» – one word, no pause. со стола́ = «састала́» (О without stress sounds like «а», День 8).
  • из су́мки = «ис-су́мки» – З before С, К, Т, П… sounds like С (like глаз = «глас», День 7). But из окна́ – З stays З.
  • с головы́ = «з-галавы́» – С before Г, Д, Б, З… sounds like З. Just say it fast – your tongue does it by itself!
  • 30 seconds, every day. The tongue is a muscle – this is aerobics. 💪
🏠 Дома́шняя рабо́та · Homework – one small thing

Tomorrow, take your hat off: «Снима́ю ша́пку с головы́!» 🧢 And take one thing out of your bag: «Беру́ ру́чку из су́мки!» 👜
That is the first minute of День 34. You already know it – so День 34 starts with a win.

✔ Часть 1 гото́ва! Part 1 done.

Ска́ффлз – на стол? – Нет! Ска́ффлз – со стола́! Брысь! shoo with both hands 🐈
  1. Play it three times – a little faster each time. Then a friend says the first line of a pair – and you say the second.
  2. Gesture → word. Don't look at the cards. Make a gesture – say the word. Mixed order: 👍 отку́да? · 👜 из · 🍽️ с · 🧤 снима́ю · 💍 кольцо́

🦉 Посло́вица дня · proverb of the day · 👂 heard at the end of the video · 👀 you read it today!
Без труда́ не вы́тащишь и ры́бку из пруда́.

Without work you won't pull even a little fish out of a pond.
Slinky worked – she dived deep into the bag for the ring – and she got her fish. Scuffles only made trouble – and asked «А мне?». No work – no fish! Russians say it to anyone who wants a result without effort – and to children who don't want to do their homework. Look at the endings: без труда́ (like «без кольца́», День 29) and из пруда́ – today's из! (труд = work; пруд = a pond; вы́тащишь = you pull out; ры́бку – like «Кому́ ры́бку?», День 31.) English says: No pain, no gain. Gesture: pull a heavy fishing rod with both hands on «вы́тащишь», open your hands – a fish! – on «из пруда́». (Proverb page and mp3 to add.)

I take the book off the table. – Oh! The pen – onto the floor! The ring fell! From where? Off the table! And where to? Into the bag! Scuffles! A cat on the table?! No, no, no! Off the table – shoo! – Grrr… – Slinky comes out of the bag – with the ring! Thank you, Slinky! I put the ring on my finger. Slinky – well done! Who gets a fish? Slinky! I take a fish out of the fridge. – Miaow! And me? – Without work you won't pull even a little fish out of a pond! – Grrr… – Well done! Bye!

💡 Пра́вило · Rule
  • ★ In → out, on → off.
  • из ↔ в: из су́мки → в су́мку.
  • с (со) ↔ на: со стола́ → на стол, с па́льца → на па́лец.
  • After из and с – the «нет» ending: -а, -ы, -и.
  • надева́ю → снима́ю. куда́? → отку́да?
  • Every new word has two links: tap the word to hear it 🔊, tap the picture to open it in the dictionary 📖.
ударе́ние – словарь ударе́ние – stress – shows the syllable you say louder and longer, just like in English: LUN-dun (London), TEL-ih-fohn (telephone).

ЛО́НДОН – словарь ЛО́НДОН – the stress is on the first syllable, as in English. But Russians say a real, round о: LON-d’n, not LUN-dun. The second о comes after the stress, so it is short and weak (like the a in sofa).
ТЕЛЕФО́Н – словарь ТЕЛЕФО́Н – not like the English TEL-ih-fohn: the stress is on the last syllable: ti-li-FON (е without stress sounds like a short и). That is why we mark the stress.

The sign is only a help for learners. Russian books don't print it, and you don't write it.
🎯 Why does о sound like а?
😄 Для тех, кто говори́т по-англи́йски · For English speakers

English has one «from» – Russian has three: из (out of: из су́мки), с (off: со стола́) and от (from a person: от Ри́чарда – tomorrow!). 🎁
«I'm from London» = «Я из Ло́ндона» – you came out of London. 🇬🇧
in / out of, on / off – English pairs two words; Russian pairs two little words and changes the ending: в су́мку – из су́мки. 👜
One с, two jobs: с кольцо́м = with the ring (День 30) · с па́льца = off the finger (today). The ending decides! 😄
Без труда́ не вы́тащишь и ры́бку из пруда́ ≈ No pain, no gain.

🔬 Почему́ так · Why this way

  • The ending must carry the meaning. In the tap quiz only the end of the word tells you the answer – structured input, the learner must use the form to understand (VanPatten · processing instruction).
  • Chunks first, the rule later. «Кот у окна́» (День 4) and «Кольца́ нет!» (День 29) were heard as whole blocks; today the same ending comes back with из and с – formulaic language (Wray 2002).
  • A short rule after many meetings. Short explicit teaching works better than none – 49 studies – Norris · Ortega 2000.
  • Noticing. The purple endings make the change visible – Schmidt 1990, noticing.
  • In and out with the hands. You put a thing in and take it out – the little words are felt before they are named – Total Physical Response, Asher 1969; gestures with words – Macedonia · Knösche 2011.
  • The action on the loud syllable. A hand beat on the stressed syllable helps adults pronounce new words. Studies with adults – Prieto's group, Barcelona.
  • Remember first, then check. Retrieval practice – 50 classroom experiments – Agarwal · Nunes · Blunt 2021.
  • 15 minutes a day. Short daily sessions beat one long one – Stoltzfus · Sukseemuang 2018.
  • The proverb outside the core. Extras inside the core lower learning of the main thing (Mayer, seductive details); an idiom learned with its picture and story is remembered better (Boers 2001).
  • The cat makes the mistakes. Nobody corrects the student. The student laughs and is never the one who is wrong.
  • Our own method. Natasha's Language Aerobics – tested for many years with her students.
